Historical Race Temps

Supposed to be dipping into the 30's for lows here in South Florida tonight. So its anyone's guess what it will be like in 25 days. Keeping my fingers crossed for about 40's at the start and NO wind. Went out and did 10 yesterday - started out at 60 degrees - was cool in the shade but warm enough in the sun for sleeveless - and really windy. Would not want that for race weekend.

I find I run the best when the temps are around 45-60. Even 60 is pushing it for me sometimes. So hate to say it...but I kinda hope its semi-chilly on race day...just NOT frigid like last year!

I definitely second the plea for chilly to semi-chilly. Not freezing (though lord knows I'm getting used to that), but not hot. Especially not at the start because then it'll just be brutal later into the race.

Count me in as a warmer weather runner! I have done goofy the last 3 years and this past year was horrible!! I also ran DL in 07 and that was way too hot. I would love a start at around 60 or high 50's. Please don't let it be as cold as last year!!!!

I know 2010 was really cold, especially seeing the small canals have ice on them. I love 2008 and 2009 temp.

So hoping for weather warm enough to wear shorts and tshirt. I just did a 21 miler with 25 degree temps. Man, it is a royal PITA to make pit stops when you have so many layers.

I just got back from doing 8 and the temp here today would be absolutely perfect for race weekend. It was 41 with a wind chill of 36 even though there was no wind really, completely clear, humidity of 66%, and just enough cloud cover to keep the sun off your back.

Being able to get out in shorts and short sleeves really makes the run much more pleasant and you feel much less restricted then having to bundle up.

You're NUTS! And I mean that in the kindest way :lmao:

I'd be running in a snow mobile suit!

Ugh! The weather this morning in Houston starts out at 68F. Good thing this am is a mountain biking morning. I would hate to think that I was about to take off on a 26 mile run. With this season's training level I would melt on the pavement

And on the other side of the country in Central New York the temperature topped out in the middle 20s. Put in a tough 20 mile run with wind and lots of ice anywhere but in the driving lanes. Glad to see I made it off the road alive. I'll tell you, truck drivers are definitely the best and move over more. Some cars seem to veer right at you.
Can't wait to run in the sun and heat with just shorts and a light weight tank top. I couldn't shake the cold for the 2nd half after I was all sweaty with the cold wind.

Accuweather is now showing the half high to be 80 and the full high to be 77!! I so hope that happens!!

Let's hope it stays that way. Bring on the heat :-)

A few hours suffering on Sat & Sundays race will be well worth it for 10 days of beautiful weather on vacation.

My thoughts exactly Robert! Plus I would rather be warm than deal with the frigid cold of last year!

I'll make sure to dump a couple extra waters over the head at the aid stations so I do not melt in your preferred weather. We do not want another 2007:scared1:

The good news is that the lows are coming back into a reasonable range ie the lower 50's upper 40's. You can have what ever high you want after 730 on Saturday and 1030 on Sunday.

It doesn't look to be as hot as in 2007.

But if you and another 20,000 + people dump 2 cups of water on their heads we might have another 2007 where their is no water or cups for us back of the packers.(Not saying you (or I won't) shouldn't do but that helped cause the problem)

Lets hope Disney plans accordingly :)

I'm with you, Robert. I HATED the weather last year and I was dreading the idea that this year could be similar. I'm only running the 5K and the half this year so the hot forecasts don't bother me much. My apologies to the full and Goofy runners. :goodvibes The nice thing about the races starting so bloody early is that you're done (or pretty much done) the half by the time the sun comes up.

It looks like I might get to swim (or even go to a water park!) for the first time in Disney since 2001!
