We last went to DL in 2015. The only attraction I remember having a Fast Pass option was World of Color. It seems like there may have been one other attraction, but World of Color was the only Fast Pass we pulled.

Were there other Fast Passes back then that I just overlooked?

Yep. Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Buzz Lightyear, Star Tours, Indiana Jones, Roger Rabbit. And that's just at Disneyland. California Adventure also had a few rides with fast passes then, including Tower of terror, soarin', and California screamin'.

When are you going next?!?!

We are going back the first week of December, 2017. :)

So, back then, you had to go to the ride itself and pull a paper fast pass, correct?

And as of this summer, we can either buy the MaxPass and get fast passes on our phone *OR* we can pull paper fast passes for no additional charge? Is this correct?

Yeah, almost every large ride has a fastpass and has had them for a very long time.

Actually World of Color doesn't count as an attraction Fastpass either, it's more of a show. So it's not even on the same system as the ride or attraction fastpasses. You can have a Fastpass for WoC and one for Screamin' at the same time.

There are and were several. Indiana Jones, Space Mountain, Big Thunder and Splash, to name most. I believe Buzz Lightyear also offered one then. Certainly it does now. Matterhorn recently added one as did Haunted Mansion. Well -- HM's had one for awhile but it seems that it was only available on busier days. It seems to always be available now.

Most FP distributions are nearby the ride itself, except for RSR (and WoC since there really isnt a "ride") some can be tricky to find or confusing, like Indy cause its usually so crowded between Jungle cruise and Indy. Also, if the FPs are gone for that ride for the day, they usually cover the machines and rope off the area.

SteveMP: Maybe that's why I didn't realize they had FPs for those rides. Maybe they were covered and out of sight by the time we got there.

But, I don't have to do Max Pass to get fast passes, correct? I can still use the paper passes? (Unless they run out like you mentioned above?)

No, you don't need MaxPass in order to get FastPasses. You can still go to the machines. However, now your FP is connected to your actual park ticket. The paper slip you get is just a reminder, not the actual FastPass.

It may have also been that we just didn't need FPs and so I don't remember anything about them. We stayed 5 days and wandered around happily the whole time. For me, Disneyland is not just the rides. I like looking at landscaping and fountains, reading menus, and watching happy people. Our goal wasn't to ride as many rides as we could in one day. We did WDW like that in 2016 using their FP system and I actually hated jumping from one ride and quickly heading over to the next. My kids wanted to stop and look at this and that and I was constantly pushing them along to the next thing before they were ready. I'm thinking Max Pass may not be for me. We might stick to our old strategy while being more mindful of the possibility of using the paper passes if need be.

WoW!!!!!!! to have children that want to look for the little man house at Disneyland...that is great.....some new trivia to look for on the new railroad area

* unnatural science act portrayed?
* oldest non-rock display in the new area that is a natural depiction?
* if the train is at the Columbia Gorge, which direction is the train traveling ?
* just how big is the medicine man?
