Hi

Has anyone used a UK hire firm for SatNav rather than their car hire company in USA? The UK hire prices are a lot cheaper than the US ones almost leads me to thinking too good to be true?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

we havent hired sat nav but we have used our own UK sat nav there before. we just bought the US maps and had no problems. as long as they have the US maps and are covered on your insurance I dont see how it would be a problem :confused3

Personally I don't see point in renting, they usually cost £30-40 for 2 weeks some include insurance others don't.
You can pick them up on Ebay for about £50 then sell again after your trip if you don't want to keep for future trip, this one sold recently http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TOMTOM-GO-500...ics_GPSSystems_GPSSystems&hash=item2eafd03faf
Or buy in Walmart from around £50-60, again sell and get your money back(maybe a slight profit) http://www.walmart.com/ip/Tomtom-One-140S-Portable-Gps/11020909

Thanks for helping me make up my mind! I've just bought one off ebay with US maps already on it. Will sell it on when we get back.
