Hire cars & Driving Licence

Hello,

Last time I went to WDW there was only me driving. This time me & DF will be driving (and arguing over who's turn it is 'cos we both like to drive!)

When you pick up your car at Sanford you are not allowed to take luggage into the room where the dollar desk is. Does this mean that Gavin (the rental is in his name) can go in alone but with both our DL's and that will be sufficient or will the dollar rep need to see me in person aswell? Having us both go in wouldnt be too much of a problem as we will be traveling with family but due to seperate flights etc there may be a time delay in having someone to watch our bags for us if we both need to be seen in person.

As long as he has you paper licence you should be OK. That been said, the place will be air conditioned so take advantage

If I remember rightly you will be told that only one person is allowed to go for the car and that there is no luggage allowed into the building.
Whenever we have picked up a car that's whats always happend to us. DH & I drive and only one person needs to go in with both DL's. Done this loads of times with no problems.

I still have an old paper licence and have used it to rent with Dollar for the last 5 years or so. They have never commented or indicated that there is any kind of problem at all, so you should be fine.

Thanks - I have hired car with Dollar and don't really want to shell out
£19.00 for photo driving license unless I really need it

I don't know if this would help, but apparently, if your address has changed since your last licence (even if the postcode has been updated) the DVLA will issue a new one (which includes the photocard) free of charge. I have gotten so far as to get the form, and even photos, but I so disorganised I haven't actually posted it all off (since last year!). I'm ashamed of myself!
