I never saw this on the board before and thought I would share. On our May 10th cruise we had an adjoining room with Mark's parents. As soon as we got in we opened up the doors between the rooms and tried to keep them open (they are heavy). I don't think we were in the room more than 15 minutes than our room steward Prachan showed up. He put one of those little wooden blocks up in the top of one door (where the closing mechanism is) and said he would return with another. These are what the rooms stewards use when they clean the room. It worked out great. Whenever we wanted to close the doors we just removed the blocks. When we wanted them to stay open we just put them back in. One word of caution - don't lean on the door or you might make it come loose since the pressure of the door closing it what keeps it in place.

Thought I would give everyone a tip that hopefully they could use.

THANKS!!!

We have adjoining rooms for our xmas cruise.

What rooms did you have?

Jim

AN IMPROVED TIP!!

We had adjoining rooms on our May 10 cruise as well. (WDWLVR, sorry we missed the DIS meet.)

Our cabin steward offered those same wooden blocks as well. However, we have little ones (DD2, DD3, and DS5). It's natural for them to lean or push against the doors for support as they walk from one cabin to another, especially when the ship is moving. When they do that, they are at risk of getting hit by the wooden block that falls down and/or getting knocked over and pinched by the door(s) that will slam close. It was way to risky, so we declined and tied the doors open with ropes instead. That's when our cabin steward came back with another kind of wooden door stops that worked great! These are the triangular shaped ones that you place on the floor underneath the door. Once you jam it tightly against the bottom of the door, it take some force to loosen it. The doors never accidentally closed after that. So, be sure to ask for those instead (or pack them yourself). I've seen rubber ones at Home Depot for a few bucks.

Mfan, Those sound great for when traveling with kids. We were traveling with my in-laws so we tended to close the doors every night and it was very easy to just slip the block out. For someone who wanted to keep the doors open all the time I think your idea would work better.

Jim, we were in 6640 and 6642 which are both Navigator Verandas.

We took package tape and taped the locks down so the doors wouldn't latch. We kept them closed, but no one was ever locked out of the other room.

Actually, the door stoppers he gave us were also easily removable. They just won't accidentaly drop out because the door was touched. It takes intentional effort to remove them. We also closed the doors at night when we wanted some privacy. ;) ;) Of course, we always had the baby monitor turned on.
