We have never stayed at the Hilton before but we were able to get an amazing rate on a double Queen suite that we could not pass up.

Just wondering if any others have stayed here before and what your thoughts were.

Thank you

We stayed last August becuase we got an awesome deal too. We stayed in 2 rooms for our family of 5 and my parents. While we found it to be great for the deal we got, we will be looking for other hotels in the future. Here are my thoughts:

Pro:
Very nice hotel
Good pool with great kids splash area
Lots of food choices
ART only had Hilton and Marriott as the only stops on that route

Con:
Very small rooms
Bathroom only had sliding door that did not lock
Bathroom was on a tilt
Starbucks in lobby would close whenever they felt like it (2 hrs early)
Pool bar would not open for their posted hours (only opened 2 of 4 days we used the pool)
Elevators took forever
If we walked to DL, it was about 20 mins

Thanks for the comments.

We are from Canada and was able to get a 2 queen room for $109/night CDN or about $80 US so we could not turn that down. We probably won't be in the hotel much as we want to try and maximize our time in the parks but it is good to know about some of these things for sure. We usually stay at the Sheraton Park so we are OK with the 20 minute walk as our kids are older now.

We like Hilton Anaheim.

Elevators are a pain b/c it's a busy busy convention hotel and they don't always have all elevators working. You adjust for it quickly.

Their buffet is really good AND really expensive.

We enjoy staying at the Hilton. Front desk staff is great and very friendly. We've received nice upgrades in the past. Starbucks and the little food court are convenient. It's easy enough to cruise by the Starbucks each morning to ask what their hours are for that day. If they will be closing early, we just use the Starbucks locations in the parks or DtD or stop by Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf on the way back to the Hilton. As for the elevators, we usually ask for a low floor so that we don't have to travel too many floors.

One comment on why the rates might be so low, there is major construction next to the Hilton (North side) to expand the Convention Center next door.

We stay here a lot and like it. If you get a corner room, they are huge. There's just two of us, no kids, so the bathroom door doesn't bother us at all. We've never been to the pool except to use the jacuzzi once after a half-marathon. Love the bar in the lobby. We've never really had a problem with the elevators but we are usually up and out pretty early. The walk to the park is fine in the morning and coming back we usually take the Toy Story shuttle, we've never used ART.

We stayed there last December with a good deal. We had a king bed room, not a corner room, but just the same the room was huge. You could probably have fit three king-sized beds in that room comfortably. We had a view of the fireworks, which was unexpected (and of course it wasn't perfect from that distance). I thought it was great overall, but we usually stay at budget locations so I wouldn't book it again without a good discount. We walked sometimes and used the Toy Story buses other times, either way it didn't take long to get to the parks. The only complaint I remember having is that one night we came back to the room and it smelled strongly of paint fumes. The front desk had no idea why, they said none of the rooms nearby had been painted. I'm willing to write that off as a random occurrence, so I'm not counting it against the hotel.

We were going to use Uber or Lyft since walking to the parks & back is difficult for my back problems and I want to conserve my back for the parks. I've not stayed at the Hilton since before DCA was built so.....where is the shuttle and how long to walk to it?

If you take a shuttle, don't take ART Route 20 (Toy Story), opt to pay a few bucks and take the ART Route 1 to the front of the Hilton.

And yes, the Toy Story Buses are ART Route 20, operated and run by Anaheim Resort Transportation, and the Buses are clearly marked "20 Toy Story". This is due to the fact that they run on Public Streets. (Mickey and Friends Trams are 100% on a private roadway).

The Toy Story parking lot is across across Harbor from the Hilton. Using Google maps, it's .4 miles from outside the hotel to the center of the lot where the shuttles pick up.

We've stayed several times and it's just fine. It's not "magical" or anything, but fine. It's geared toward the business traveler. Someone above mentioned busy elevators and that's no joke, especially during the week.

We're Hilton Honors so get upgraded every time. It also comes with free breakfast. Worth it to sign up if you haven't already.

They have park view rooms with floor to ceiling windows that are huge. Really nice. You can watch fireworks from the room.

No. They changed it up a year or so ago. They used to give you the option of a Starbucks voucher you could use (in their lobby), or the breakfast. No more Starbucks which is a bummer because it was nice to grab and go. Plus, I recommend walking to the park. Cutting through the Convention Center is super fast. Waiting on that stupid ART was a mistake we made once and only once.

The breakfast at Hilton is not free for members, it hasn't ever been for us anyway. We're Silver, maybe it is for higher tiers? There are different rates you can choose when you make your reservation and some of them come with "free breakfast" but the reservation per night is more expensive. It's not as expensive as buying the breakfast on it's own (which is pricey, but delicious), so you do save a bit.

For example: on their site right now looking at a reservation for tonight logged into my member account:

We stayed at the Marriott once and cut through the convention center as well even though we had the ART passes......I think we will do the same again.

Which way would be better in your opinion.....go up Harbor and enter there or go through DTD?
