Hilton (on site) vs. Swan/Dolphin? Is S/D *that* much better?

Golfwidow, the prices you quoted for the Hilton are very high compared to what other people are paying to stay there. The price you quoted for the S/D (229.00) is full price. You can get 50% off with the entertainment rate! Just buy a 20.00 entertainment book. Go to www.mousesavers.com for more info on the entertainment book. You really should switch to the S/D and get a better rate. PM me if you need more info. I don't want you to stay at the Hilton, yuck!

While you can often do much better than $229, rack rates at the Swan and Dolphin start at $325. See e.g. http://wdwig.com/faq_dol.htm

We're going to WDW December and staying first at Hilton, Downtown, for three nights ($105 with tax) and the last three nights at Dolphin ($129 without tax/gov rate). I'll only be saving about $150 total by first staying at the Hilton but it's enough money for me to do so!

Just a suggestion - but, if I were going to stay at DD and especially at the Hilton, then I would go thru Priceline. You're almost guaranteed to get either the Hilton or the Wyndham. And if you don't get one of those two, then you'll end up with either the Marriott World Center, the Swan, or the Dolphin. For the price of about $60 you can't lose with any hotel you get.
