I have a couple question. We are considering this as our family vacation for next year. First we need to decide when to go. We are possibly going with some friends, and have considered going in August. My DH would like to go in October. Which of the two is a better time to go? Second, as we are not members there, is it going to be a problem to get a 2 bedroom villa during either of those times? Thanks. I really wish the information for Hilton Head was as easily found as it is for the WDW resorts.

I would pick Oct over August in a heartbeat - much nicer weather! I also think it might be easier to get a reservation then. I only wish we could go in Oct. but before we know it we won't have to deal with high school holidays so I am not complaining!

We stayed 4 days in July 2007 as non-members, and we easily got reservations 2 months before.

I'd go in August.....necessary if you want to take full advantage of the beach and swimming in the 84 degree ocean, having fun on the boogie boards, etc. But if that doesn't appeal to you go in October when it's not so humidly hot---great for golf, tennis, bike riding, etc. Either way you'll have a great vacation.

We just went in August and had a blast! I loved that the ocean temp was 84 degrees!!! However it was hot! We spent our vacation in the water wether that was the beach or the pool water. We thouroughly enjoyed being there in prime time season. Even with it being August the beach was not packed, plenty of room to set up your "spot" and build sand castles to your hearts content. Also a big highlight for us and especially our DD (6yo) was the Tues. night pool party. It was a blast! She had so much fun dancing. She learned the electric slide, macarana, shout, limbo, congo line, and more. I'm sure they have the party in Oct. too, just not sure how lively it is then as ours was pretty robust! For us it was a great summer vacation where we did not have to pull anyone out of school.

I have to agree with the August votes... if you can get in at that time, it is probably the best time... for HHI.

You can probably figure out by now, "better" depends on what you want to do. If you want to lie around the beach, probably August would be better. But if you want to do things-biking, miniature golf, etc.-I would think August would be way too hot to enjoy, then October would be preferable.
