Maybe instead of cruising, we may try one of these resorts. What is there to do at each one and considering we are coming all the way from Cali. if you have any feelings on which one is better, please let us know. This would be in Nov. so I don't know what the weather would be like.

Our family went to V.B. this past July. We went for seven days. My wife thought that it was too long of a stay but I could of stayed for a few more days. There really is not much to do but rest and enjoy the ocean. I was surprised how many people came to visit the ocean but used the pool. There are activities for the young kids but not a whole lot for teenagers. We had a rental car and traveled off site for dinner and some activites. I would definately go back again.

I never been to H.H. so I cannot compare the two. I would like to some day vaction there.:)

HH was a really nice vacation. I think there is a little more to do there too.

The weather would be better at VB than HH in November if you are looking for somewhere warmer to stay

Is it just adults or kids in the party as well?

thanks

For us, Hilton Head Island is just like a cruise, except for the size of the rooms... There are a lot of daily activities to particapte in on board (onsite...) land excursions into town... Castaway Key, er um Disney's beach house... all while enjoy the space of a two bedroom unit....

We love HHI and Disneys DVC resort there.

Don't spend too much time on this one. HHI is a much better destination. VB has some lovely multi-million dollar homes that boast views of the ocean AND intracoastal waterway. After that, not much is too extraordinary. The beach is poor--especially when compared to Palmetto Dunes (beach club locale for Disney's HHI Resort).

HHI has been one of the top family destinations on the east coast for nearly two decades. You simply cannot go wrong.

What cities are located near HHI? We will be taking our one year old and would like to do some shopping if we (me, he he) could. So basically, how far is the closet big city?:p

There are two (I think) large outlet malls at HH. Savannah is about an hour away and Charleston is maybe an hour and a half to two hours away. As far as shopping in those cities, I've never done that, but they are wonderful day trips in beautiful cities.

I've been to both but definately like HH better.

Have fun deciding!

If points are an issue, check out both because HHI often only has the 2 bedroom units available.

We love HHI, but VB is easier for us point wise because of the Inn Rooms (we only have 150 points though).

I think much is weather dependant. HH is very nice resot community, but doesn't have as warm a winter season.

At some point in time, you should try to come to HH in the summer. The ocean is a lovely 85 degrees---a big plus to someone else (me!) who hails from CA originally.

The low-country has a certain charm in and of itself. The weather is pleasant in November and you can still do outdoor acitivities like golf, miniature golf, tennis, crabbing, dolphin cruises, nature walks, horse and bike riding. Play on the beach, not in the ocean, but the DVC pool is heated and usable.

Note that it's not the high tourist season, so things are fairly quiet. Less traffic, but also less action as well, although things do pick up closer to Thanksgiving.

A day trip to Savannah (first read "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil"), or Beaufort (watch "Prince of Tides") or Charleston is time well spent.

If you'd like, I can sent you the current activities and visitor's guide which might will help you make your decision--just send me a pm.

Vero is a great short beach break destination, but IMHO for people that need to feel they are "doing" something it's best for breakes of less than 4 days. HH meanwhile has a lot more going on both at the resort and in the area, I don't think many people would struggle to find things to do at HH for a week to ten days break.

Time of year is something to consider, HH will definately be cooler than Vero, but I think it's still not too cold at HH. We were there over Xmas and had quite a few days that were warm enough for swimming and sunning by the pool.
