Hilton Head suggestions?

I am so excited... have been waiting MONTHS for the 7-month window to open for Hilton Head! Tomorrow is the big day. We are hoping to book 3 nights at HH, as per these Boards. The concensus here was that any less would be a "tease!"

I am going to try to get a 2-bedroom but I would take 2 studios or a 1-bedroom plus a studio. Our group will be 8. If I am lucky enough to get accomodations, do you veterans have any suggestions about a general area to request? I will be so happy to get a room anywhere, but with 4 small children I was thinking of asking for "pool view." Any ideas?

Also, do these buildings have elevators? I know they are built "up" due to local regulations. If you are on floor 2, do you hike up 3 flights of steps? Again, with 4 children, perhaps I should request "as low to the ground as possible."

Thanks!

Only the main lodge area has an elevator and yes, all of the buildings are elevated so there would be some steps even for the "first" floor. The lodge area is a ways from the pool, but since the resort is so small, it is a short walk. When we stayed in this area, youngest DD was 3 and it wasn't a problem. Also, all of the HC rooms are in the lodge area, so if you don't want HC, I would not request that area. You will have the best luck getting a 2 br since there are more of these than 1br or studios. Even those rooms having a pool view don't have direct pool access. You would still need to walk around the villa to get to the pool entrance, but the patio of the villa would overlook the pool area. These rooms could get pretty noisy since the community area is right there as well. If the little ones need a nap in the afternoons, I would request and island view or marsh view and close to pool. We were in building 21 last time we stayed there and it was ideal - close to the pool and no noise (at least not from the pool area!). Good Luck tomorrow!

The above reply really sums it up. Just wanted to add that our first trip to HH was booked at the 7 month mark and we were able to get a 2 bedroom with no problem. Good luck! I'll bet you'll love HH.
