Thinking of driving to WDW next Spring from Philadelphia area. Does it make any sense to make an over night stop at HHI on the way down? (DW and I - doing some Disney and catch the Phils Spring Training)

It's definitely worth going out of your way for if you want to take the time. Just beware, the resort is not off the exit, you have a good half hour drive once you exit 95 and thats if there's no heavy traffic; depends on the day and time of the week. It's nice to stop and have a look-see but it would be hard to truly experience the charm of the resort and all that it has to offer. I can almost guarantee you will want to come back for a longer stay!

Our family does this nearly every trip, an overnight stop on HHI, sometimes on both our south and north bound trip. It takes us between 12 - 14 hours to reach HHI with gas/eat/rest stops leaving southern NY between 4 - 5 AM so if we stop there overnight going south we usually do not go for the points to book Disney's HHI resort because of our arrival time but instead will bid resort level on HHI via priceline (if bid is accepted you'll get Westin, Hilton, Marriott or Crowne Plaza resorts all located on beach ). For our drive back north we book Disney resort on points because we leave WDW early morning and in approx 5 hours were at HHI by noon latest.
