It seems that we always eat at the same places when we go to HHI. Next trip will be our longest, almost two weeks, and we've vowed to try some new places so we're looking for suggestions. We like seafood and nothing too fancy. Places we've eaten at are the Black Marlin, Skull Creek Boathouse, Sea Shack, Salty Dog, Kenny B's, British Open Pub, and Hudson's, also a few others that have since closed. Any suggestions?

It's been a couple of years but we ate at One Hot Mama's the last time we were there. We really liked it. I don't remember what we ate - but we really liked it.

All the other places we like - you already listed!!!

We also enjoy One Hot Mama's - which is a rib place. Great menu!

Another is The Lodge - with great draft beers and similar menu to Mama's (both are operated by Mama Orchid who was on one of the reality Chef programs and also part of the Serge Group at HH - which includes Skull Creek Boathouse, Black Marlin, Frankie Bones, Giuseppi's, Poseidon's {set to open this winter near at Shelter Cove Harbour Center near Kroger}). Also nearby is Big Bamboo, Vine, Alexanders, Hilton Head Brewery, O'Reilly's, Nick's).

Within walking distance of the DVC Resort are:

Kingfisher (very average)
Scott's Fishmarket
Bistro 17
La Fontana
Mediterranean Cafe
San Miguels
ELAs

and rumored to come to Shelter Cove is Sunrise Cafe in the coming months.

Also nearby is Alexander's, Red Fish, Captain Woody's, Big Bamboo, Sea Grille and several others. Ask at the front desk as there are many great nearby options.

I really liked Scott's Fishmarket. It didn't look like much, but I enjoyed the outdoor seating and short walk from the resort. Also, the beach house did a low country boil on Tuesdays? It is traditional Disney buffet food (not overly seasoned), but it was nice to enjoy a meal at the beach house.

Yes, I remember that low country boil when we were there one time, and we really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, since we usually go in the off-season, we don't get it because they only offer it certain months. When we went once in late April, they did it. I wish they'd do it all year 'round.

They just built a whole foods market next door to the resort in the Kroger shopping center. They have a section of the store with prepared items like seafood and kebobs which you can cook at the villa or they will cook right there while you wait, there is also a great buffet with lots of choices and a dining area.

Pazzo.

It's across 278 from the resort, but, close enough to walk (if you take the path under the highway anyway.

We try to eat there frequently.

Signe's has a good breakfast/lunch menu, but, not walking distance.

The grill at the community house has great burgers. If Joyce is cooking, they are even better.

I forgot to mention Signe's. They make our Thanksgiving dinner every year. Also, that Whole Foods idea is a fantastic tip-thanks! And we'll keep our eyes open for Sunrise Cafe and Poseiden's. Anyone recommend (or not) Frankie Bones? I figure that since they're in the same group as a couple places we enjoy, they should be good.

Frankie Bones is part of the SERG Group and has a Frank Sinatra theme. Food is good with fun atmosphere. The Sunrise Cafe may be a bit of a wait - I think it is tentatively scheduled for an opening in early 2016. Poseidon's will be opening very soon - it will have a capacity of 400 diners with huge upstairs bar overlooking the marsh. I think the Shelter Cove Towne Center is about 90% filled with retail/dining commitments.

One Hot Mama's - love the BBQ

Frankie Bones - only been once but loved the lobster mac and cheese.

Reilley's Grill and Bar on lobster night (Mondays).

i liked roastfish and cornbread a couple of years ago but i've heard they have been getting mixed reviews lately.

lots of places i still want to try...

Just back this weekend from a wonderful weekend trip.

Favorites:

Happy Hour at One Hot Mamas.
Dry Dock; try Grover's fries and the grilled grouper sandwich.
Char Bar - great burgers.
Red Fish - lunch (going to try Early Bird next time)
Mellow Mushroom - pizza
Sea Shack - lunch
Skull Creek Boatyard - always a dinner favorite but did lunch this time - had a wonderful Salmon sandwich with bacon, avocado and tomato!!!!

Tried Alexanders for the first time for early bird. Won't do it again.

Too many restaurants, too little time.

We were there in 2012....loved the British Open Pub in The Wexford Plaza....yummy pretzel bread...Shepard's Pie and I had the Sunday night special Lobster Pot Pie...wow...cozy setting great food....great beer....

We also enjoyed the Salty Dog outdoor restaurant....great lunch....:thumbsup2

We always eat at least one night at Hugo's. It is quiet, relaxing, and seems popular with locals. Food is excellent, and we've always gotten very good service. Prices are reasonable, especially the nightly specials.

We are going the middle of April will most of these restaurants be open for us when we arrive or do they close down and open closer to the summer?

Good question....we are going in January......will there be places to eat, things to do? I assume since it is a fairly large area at least all the chains will be open

A suggestion for take-out and eating on your deck: Bullies BBQ!

This was our find from our spring break trip. Its not far from the resort. It does have a few tables inside but mostly seems like a take-out place. We all liked it so much much we did it twice in one trip. :)

Yes, there will be no shortage of dining options year-round. Some restaurants may use the slower season to renovate but few will be closed even in January/February.

March begins the "busy" season at HH and everything is in full swing by then.

Many restaurants offer BOGO, early dine specials and other discounts from November - February. Right now there are BOGO (Buy-one-Get-one) offers at:
Big Bamboo, Bomboras, Captain Woody's, Carolina Crab, Catch 22, Flatbread Grill/Bar, Hinoki, Hugo's, Kurama, La Fontana, Lucky Rooster, Maditerranean Harbour, Michael Anthony's, Ombra Cucina Rustica, Phill's Cafe, San Miguels, Santa Fe Cafe, Skillets, STudio, TJ's Take & Bake Pizza, Topside Waterfront, Up the Creek, Watusi. There was a coupon booklet in Sunday's Island Packet, but I expect you can ask at any of these restaurants about getting the discount.

In addition, the Serg Group (One Hot Mama's, The Lodge, Frankie Bones, Marley's, Giuseppi's, Skull Creek Boathouse, Black Marlin, Poseidon, Wise Guys) will have their winter discounts out soon, so ask when you arrive at the restaurant.

Some restaurants offer early-dine specials (usually ~$15) year-round. Those will typically be noted in the dining booklets available at the resort when you check in. The DVC Resort staff is also great about making suggestions.

Enjoy! :)
