Is there an FAQ about the Hilton Head Resort?

Do you have to be a DVC member or rent points from a member to be able to stay here, or can anyone just purchase a vacation package as long as there is space that isn't being purchased by DVC members?

We'll be moving to Charleston this summer and will be very close to this resort. I just wanted to get all the info now

DIsney does sell just the rooms. I don't think it would really be a package. Just give CRO a call.

That said, if you are going for a week you can probably get a much better deal renting a villa. (Of course I am not a big fan of the HH DVC)

.....No, you do not have to be a DVC member to book a stay at HHI resort. You can book directly through Disney through the 1(407)W-DISNEY phone # as Disney retains a small percentage of each DVC resorts rooms/villas in their own separtate inventory (they also gain extra rooms at 60 days out if members of that resort trade out to other resorts like DCL,etc.). It often however is much less expensive to rent the points for DVC stays directly from a DVC member. If interested in renting the points you can hop over to the DVC Rent/Trade board here on the Dis

This would be the place to ask about how DVC works and whatnot As for pics...if you go to www.disneyvacationclub.com you can take virtual tours of all the DVC resorts and I'm sure if you post a more specific thread asking for pics of say HHI on this DVC board, you'll get members who've got their own personal pics to show you.

If you don't have a disney visa - maybe get one since they have great deals at HH in the off season. (like $99 per night for a 2 br)

We lived in Charleston for 6 years until last summer - moved to Cleveland for work - but HH is a great resort to go to from there. A pretty, 2 hour drive from Chas. We have only used our DVC points once to stay there since we'd do a weekend trip with the visa rate - much more economical than using high weekend points. The only time you'd want to rent points is if you want to stay during summer months since this is their busy season and owners typically book it solid. We rented and spent 4th of July there which was a blast.

Enjoy Charleston! We'll be visiting in 3 weeks and it will be great to get out of the snow!

Thanks everyone. I found the answers to most of my quetions by cruising the other threads. Some that I still have are:

Is the beach really much of a beach? It looked kind of small and mossy in the pictures.

Where can I do a general reservation? I went to WDW.com, but I didn't see anywhere that I could check a reservation price.


Regarding Charleston: I can't wait to move! Now I just need a job

HH is not on the beach. You need to drive, bike, or take the shuttle. It's about a mile away. The beach is actually very nice. It's wide and many like to bike and jog on it. The small, mossy area that you saw is probably the marsh by the resort. Many request to have a marsh view. Very peaceful and quiet.

Thanks, I could tell from the pictures that it wasn't 'on' the beach, but I didn't realize that it was a mile away... Hmm...where I'm going to live will be closer than that to a beach I'd still like to stay there, though. I know they don't have characters there...does it still 'feel' like Disney? Or is it more of just a nice, relaxing place to go on vacation with exceptional service?

We took our three girls to HHI last spring and loved the resort. It does feel like Disney - top notch service and there are activities every day including Story telling, star gazing, treasure hunts and pool activities. I was concerned that it wasn't on the beach and we also booked a stay at a 4-star hotel on the beach. The funny thing is - we loved the DVC beach-house sooo much, we walked back to it from our oceanfront 4-star hotel. The beach house is great! There is a snack bar, the pool is private and there is a game room with board games and a tv area if you want to get out of the sun. Since you can park your car fairly close to your room and there is private parking at the beach house, it really isn't a big deal to either drive or take the shuttle for the day to get there.

The resort feels totally "Disney" We actually like having the beach house separate- The resort actually sits on Broad Creek (a very large creek) and it's really beautiful too.

I think you can just call CRO and make ressies- I have even seen it on Expedia too. Good lucK! You won't regret it!
