I am thinking of going to Hilton Head resort next year. I have a 21 and 23 year old children. What are some of the pro and cons of staying there?

here's a few:

pros:

*it's in hilton head for dolphin watching cruises, golf, biking around the island, eating seafood, etc.

*it's a little bit of disney in south carolina

*you have access to a beach about a mile away (and a resort shuttle to take you there).

cons:

*it's not directly on the beach

*it's not hyper-stimulating like wdw...hilton head is generally a much quieter, more relaxing destination

Our two eldest DD20 and DS23 still love HHI; we've been going there with them since 2000. As much as they love lots to do when we travel, they do enjoy the more relaxed pace of HHI too and find what's available is enough to make them happy as any other vacation we've done. Disney's HHI resort has activities scheduled each day that are for adults as well. I would say it helps if your kids like some of the following : beach and pool time, biking, nature programs, boating, fishing, golf, tennis, exploring (island itself, nearby locations like Savannah, Bluffton) as well as shopping, excellent dining from casual to fine. There are some locations that have live music in evening too.

:goodvibes

What is a good time of year to go th HHI ? As far as good weather but not to humid. Would like to go but alittle worried about storms.

went last year in september and thought it was really nice.

right now it sounds like it's fairly nice - low to mid 80s...

we have been in September the last 2 years and it has been perfect! i too wasnt sure how i would feel about a "relaxed" Disney experience. well, i must say i am now hooked.

I am schedule to go down on the 24th of June so excited this will be our first time.

We just bought a mega-loaded contract and are scheming about how soon and how long we can go down.

We are Disney nuts, but we wanted an option for more relaxing vacations with family members, friends, etc - and when we tried to book at 7 months this year for 4th of July - there was nothing- for memorial day - there was nothing- and for labor day - there was nothing - SO - we bought a contract there that more than fits our needs.

We picked it up on the secondary market for less than 1/2 of what Disney charges now - and we got in before the rules change happened - so we are good to go with points now.
Since we are up to 4 home resorts, we are point poor! :lmao:

Now if only I could win the lottery and not need to worry about the bothersome idea of 'work' - oh well.... until then, we will work to vacation.

We are always planning our next great escape - right now, we are looking ahead to Thanksgiving - and possibly something between now and then to just get away for a while. It's been a really stressful spring :headache:

Late April - May temps are very pleasant and the ocean warms up quickly. It was aleady 77 2 weeks ago. The summer months (June, July, August) are prime season for crowds. Air temps are in the upper 80's/low 90's with some humidity. Ocean temps are mid 80's. Sept is similar weather-wise, but the crowds have dissipated. October temps are similar to late spring with ocean temps still in the upper 70's - low 80's and low humidity. November is similar but the ocean starts getting back into the 60's. December - March will have a wide variety of temps (30's - 70's) with no crowds until the Spring Break season begins again.

Low humidity is typically found from April - May and October - December.

Enjoy!

Another con to some people is the frustration of getting around. Due to the strict signage restrictions and nonexistent nighttime lighting, finding a store can be a real challenge. We look at it as part of HHI's charm, but some people find it a negative experience. Here's an example-

yeah, that arby's sign can be hard to see through the bushes from the other side of the street...but it's all part of the fun... :)

I wouldn't have it any other way. That's part of what makes HHI sooo beautiful--you don't have the big tourist billboards every 50 feet! We've been there in June and July--both hot during the day, but not very humid (at least to us), while at the beach.

Love, love, LOVE HHI....

You will love HHI. We just went last weekend, and DH as already put an offer on a resale contract so we can go back every summer.
