I'm hoping to attend a seminar in September at Hilton Head. DH is going to tag along to play some golf. I was looking into the Marriott Hilton Head Golf Resort and I think I got a pretty good rate:

$159 per night (includes bfast and dinner for both of us each night). DH is going to get the Palmetto Dunes multi-round pass for 3 rounds.

Does anyone have any reviews of the hotel/golf courses or do you have any other recommendations? Neither of us have ever been there.

Thanks!!!

We stayed at the Disney Resort on HHI in December & we loved it. We were there with our 2 kids but what a romantic little hideaway it would be for just a couple!! We had a 2 bedroom/2 bath treehouse in the woods! The balcony off our master bedroom suite & (full) kitchen just overlooked trees. (Going out the front door, overlooked the marina.) We were on the 2nd floor & even the balconies seemed pretty private. Huge jacuzzi tub....very, very romantic & rustic looking.

There are no restaurants at this resort though. There is just a "carry out" window but again, there was a full kitchen in our unit. No advice on the golfing as neither of us golf. Sorry.

Anyway, we hope to return one day! We loved HHI. Hope you have a great time!

Kim,

The Marriott is oceanfront at Palmetto Dunes Resort and is a lovely hotel. It has been completely renovated over the past two years when Marriott took it over from Hyatt. The outdoor pools are beautiful and there is an indoor pool and health spa. Get a massage while you're there:D Bike rentals are available right at the hotel for the miles and miles of bike paths on the island. The restaurants at the hotel are good. Conroy's, named for author Pat Conroy (Prince of Tides, Conrack, The Water is Wide) is very good. There are many other good restaurants on Hilton Head Island when you get outside of the resort. The hotel is right across the street from the Palmetto Dunes Tennis Center which is one of the top fifty tennis centers in the world. (Don't know if you're into tennis or not.)

There are three golf courses on Palmetto Dunes Resort so the multi-round pass for three rounds is a good choice. The Fazio course is very highly rated and is the closest to the hotel. The Arthur Hills course is the newest of the three PD courses but the Robert Trent Jones, which is the PD course with an oceanfront hole, has been completely renovated within the past two years. You can't really miss with any of them.

September is probably the most beautiful month of the year to visit Hilton Head. The summer crowds have gone and the ocean is at its warmest. BTW, if you walk out of the Marriott on to the beach and turn right you are just two complexes away from Disney's Beach House (not the actual resort). While the BH itself can only be accessed with a room key, you can have a snack at the snack bar if you like. Just if you're curious;)

Let me know if you have any other questions. Have fun on HHI:sunny:

WOW!!! Thanks for all the great info!!! I really appreciate it!!!!
