Hilton Head Question

We are heading down to Hilton Head July 29th for a week and I was thinking about renting some bikes to ride over to the beach everyday...my question is If i rent the bikes do I have to cross over the main highway on my bike to get to the beach or is there a tunnel thingy where Id be able to go under that main highway like the is in Vero to get to that lake?? And if I do have to cross the main highway, how dangerous does everyone think it is?

Turn left after you cross the bridge when leaving the resort and you will see signs for walking/riding to beach. You take a walkway under the highway.

By bike no more than five minutes. It's only a mile or so away.

Pardon me for jumping in to your thread - but another question about bike rental. Can you rent them by the day or do you have to rent for the entire stay? What does a days rental cost? Finally, how is the kayaking thing that the resort offers? DW and myself want to do both a days bike rental plus do the kayak thing when we go in September. Plus I'm still looking for a golf buddy for the week after labor day.

I saw a sign saying it was unlawful for bikes or people to walk across hwy278.
