We will be staying at another resort on HHI next June. Can we go over to Disney's Hilton Head to shop and get a Mickey Bar or Dole Whip? We are not DVC members.

TIA

When I was there last Fall, that would have been totally possible. There was no guard shack to get into the parking areas. The lot was pretty full in the the evenings, but during the day it parking was not an issue.

What most people say is to park outside the gate. I think the area to the right before the gate that used to be a restaurant is now public parking, otherwise park in the big lot back a little ways, also on the right. Then just walk in across the bridge, through the walkway.

Do you mean the Beach House lot? there is a guard house within palmetto dunes that you need a pass to get through. There is no guard at the actual beach house lot but you need a card to get into the Beach House. The resort has a gate that you need to be buzzed in or have a card to get through.

In most cases, they will let you in but you need to call and make sure it is ok.

No I mean the resort. Yes it is tougher to get to the beach house.

Did this 2 weeks ago…no problem at all! Able to walk around the resort freely! Went to the check in desk and they provided a map and directions around the resort. They have free lemonade in the lobby…

Thank you!

I'm assuming there are places to park bikes. We're staying at the Marriott Monarch and it's only 6 miles away so we'll probably ride over.

Yes, plenty of spaces right along the front of the resort. We walked from the Poseidon restaurant in the Shelter Cove Towne Center. It took us about 15 minutes walking at a normal pace. Also, I don't want to forget they have DOLE WHIPS :-)

As others have noted, you can easily bike or walk onto the property, but the resort asks that you then check in at the front desk before beginning to explore the resort. ;)

I can't remember for sure, but I think Dole Whips are only available at the Beach House, not at the resort proper. The Beach House does have a walk up window - but I have never seen it open (we are usually there in the off season) - and staffing it might be an issue.

The walk up window at the Beach House is closed; however, both the Surfmen's Sandbar and TMO offer Dole whips. All of that can change at a moment's notice, of course.
