Has anyone ever celebrated New Years Eve at Disney's Hilton Head? If so what is it like? DO they have anything special going on?

Thanks!

We have celebrated there the past 3 years. We're very upset because we can't get the Grand Villa this year, so we will not be able to go. They do a lot of fun activities. On New Years eve night, they have kids club activities up until 11. Then all the families can meet at the pool for the "ball drop" and a dance party. It's lots of fun. We're pretty sad we won't make it this year.

What's the weather like at HH that time of year??

It varies from one day to the next. We started the trip in shorts and t-shirts and ended with lows in the teens. It's very hard to pack for that time.

I dropped a ressie for the Grand Villa this week. We are going with a couple 2 bedroom units instead. You may want to check again. We had the Grand Villa for the 27th through the 30th but we couldn't get the next few days. So when the 2 bedrooms suddenly opened up for the whole week including the holiday I grabbed them. I got tired of calling every day checking availability.

Good luck getting a Grand Villa!

Haven't beenon New Year's Eve but at other times during year. Shelter Cove Harbour usually has some evening entertainment (music, etc.) I'd think they'd have some celebratory things planned for NYE and it's easy walk to Disney resort. Here's link to SCH restaurants, shops, etc.

Actually, there isn't much to do at Shelter Cove Harbour on New Year's. We ate at the Italian restaurant there the first year, but many of the other restaurants were closed since it was off-season. But HHI does really provide a lot for you to do right on site. The kids in our group really liked the kids club New Year's Eve party.

The campfire sing alongs during the week are great. Here's the fire pit during the day:

We tend to run a little cold here in the Low Country (cold being relative)

It can be anywhere from 80 to 40 for daytime and 50s to 20s at night.

It can be rainy or quite dry.

I am not trying to be silly here. That is our weather in the winter. It all depends on if the winds come out of the NW or the SW.

It's my favorite time to stay on HHI.

So it seems like you need a little activity "insurance" when it comes to the weather. We are going to bring some board games just in-case the weather is bad.

And they're prepared at the resort-there are board games available from the front desk.

This thread has got us talking about getting a studio on NYE.

Should be fun!

I was thinking the same thing!!! Love it when we have expiring points that need to get used up and manage to book a studio there. One day I'm going to book Thanksgiving at 7 months just to play in the turkey bowl. :)

Subscribing....we just booked a studio at HH for 4 nights (Dec. 28 - Jan. 1) last Friday. We'll be there with our DD15 & DS11. Another DIS family will be traveling with us...including a DD19, DS16, & DS11.

Can't wait!!:dance3:

Everyone going to HHI on New Years Eve should get together for a glass of champaign!

We just tried to get a studio on NYE and went straight on a waiting list.

Well, maybe next year.
