Hilton Head.. need some help

Ok so my husband and I are celebrating our 15th anniversary in october. We planned a week trip with the bulk of it at Hilton Head from Oct 10-15. I am not entirely sold on the resort. I think we need some quiet down time away from the kids, just to remember what "us" is like.
Well starting this planning it all went haywire. There were only two bedroom villas available, so I guess we have an extra room! LOL And I am worried about the rooms location and things to do etc..

Someone calm me down!
Give me hints of where to request, what to do where to eat

Is there any thing that we shouldnt miss while at Hilton Head?

Dh and I are going to HH in Oct alone as well. It is a great place to visit without the kids. We love to bike, run and just sit back and relax. The beach is a great place for a run, especially early in the morning. You can rent bikes at the resort if you just want cruisers to ride around and on the beach. There is also a local bike shop if you want to rent road bikes for more serious riding. There are miles of bike trails around the island.

There are many threads on the mouselaneous forum about different restaurants, and we have only been there once, so I don't have any great suggestions other than Salty Dog. We also enjoyed San Miguels Mexican that is just across the creek from the resort, (not the greatest but it was good). Many also like Guiseppes pizza but we're from Chicago so we don't get pizza on vacation knowing that we have the best up here.

We enjoy going into Harbortown and going up into the lighthouse and walking around the shops there.

I'm not a golfer, but there are supposed to be wonderful courses there.

Of course there is the beach and the pools. The resort is not on the ocean but about 1.5m from the resort. It has another pool at the beach house along with the main pool at the resort.

Try some searches on HH resort here on the boards. Lots of great ideas from others that have been there many times.

I've only been to Hilton Head once (last year), but I think it could be great without kids! Lots of places to bike, you can bike to the beach house to relax on the beach, lots of little places to shop. Tons of dinner choices. We ate at The Smokehouse and loved it ( plan on going there for dinner in a few weeks when we're in HHI for 1 night on the way to WDW). If you have a sweet tooth, you can't miss Sweet Carolina Cupcakes. They are delicious.

Also, Savannah is less than an hour away and that's a great day trip.

HHI is a very romantic place, I would love to plan a trip there without kids...maybe someday.

Walking along the beach, sitting the porch and looking out at the marsh, taking a boat ride or fishing trip, a day trip to Savannah or Charleston are a few things you could do. It's a great place to reconnect with your spouse!

We ate at Skull Creek Boathouse and had a lovely meal but there are lots and lots of other places to eat with your honey. Have a wonderful time!

Make sure you take a walk along the marina to look at the boats-

Just "chillin" watching the boats go by is one of my favorite pastimes there.

If it's warm enough, my other favorite pastime is-

Resting in a hammock is fun-

The CMs are the best-

When you're hungry, Salty Dog is always good-

The only downside is when you go out, it's hard to find your way around because of the "tasteful" signs

DH and I had a wonderful dinner at Michael Anthony's Italian Cuccina. It's off the beat and path and appeared to be a place that locals enjoyed. Excellent food, romantic atmosphere and maybe a 7 minute (at most) drive from the resort. Savannah is about 45 minutes away and definitely worth a day trip. We love HH and can't wait to go back. Have a great time!
