Is there a list of Hilton Head tips or must do's somewhere?
We are planning a trip there next summer, first trip using our points that we are in the process of buying now:banana: Our DD will be 7 by then and we would love some tips on things to do. We are also meeting some friends there for a reunion of about 25 people, girls the same age and their families, so ideas for a big group would be great also.
Thanks, Erika

I'm sure there is a list somewhere on the boards here, but I can not lead you to it, sorry. I would say that when at the resort, there are several must do's. While it may not be as important to your group as you are meeting up with friends, but my kids loved, loved, loved the Kids Night Out. I think they went 3 times on our last 8 night stay. They eat pizza and go to a movie, but the most important thing was that they met tons of other kids. This set them up for the week to have some new friends to play with. I would also say that for the kids, don't miss messy science, mickey tie die, goofy bingo and at least on one occasion go to the campfire. There are more things to do for the kids than you can imagine. The kids night out was also good for the parents, we were able to go out to dinner and enjoy some quiet time. I would also say that one of my kids' favorite things is to go to gift shop each morning to say hello to Gordon. There is a disney trivia question each morning and if they can answer it, Gordon may give them a prize.

Can't help you with the big group, but I'm sure others on the board can. Good luck and have fun!

my absolute favorite part of the trip was fishing and crabbing off the pier. you can get the bait, tackle and rod from the activity desk by the pool for a small fee for 24 hour rental. i had more fun doing this our last day then anything else we did the whole trip

We always enjoy taking a day trip to Savannah and/or Charleston. Both cities are great - and not too far of a drive. Also, our favorite restaurant in HH is called "Hudson's" - excellent seafood in a casual atmosphere. Have fun.

Drive an extra 200 yards past Hudson's and hang a left at the boat storage warehouse... There's a little place at the back of the parking lot called The Boathouse... Far better than Hudson's in both food quality and atmosphere with comparable prices... The views from the bar out back "Marker 13" are spectacular (especially at sunset)...

Agree with the day trip to Savannah or Charleston... If you are a golfer and have the means, head down island to Sea Pines and play a round on Harbourtown Golf Links... The walk down the 18th fairway alone is worth the price of the round (the course isn't half bad either)...

Go on a dolphin watching cruise, or just rent a waverunner and drift for a few minutes... dolphins are everywhere down there...

The resort has a lot of kids activities. Many are free, some have a price. My kids loved making the Mickey Tye Dye shirts ($15). They wear those things everywhere. They also really enjoyed the pool party games and karoake. We rented bikes for a few days and the bigger kids just zipped around the property. I think there is even a way to ride through a tunnel to get to the beach across the steet. They have an evening campfire that my little ones just loved (4, 7,9). They sing camp songs and make s'mores. Everyone gets a s'more, but get in line quick or you will wait.:bored:

We wanted seafood, but didn't want an expensive fancy meal. We ate both times we were there at a hole-the-wall called The Sea Shack. It is a no-nonsense, move the bodies through, storefront restaurant in a business park There is almost always a line. The food is really good and fresh.

We loved Hilton Head Island! Have a great time!

Come to Savannah!

Two must dos. Eating at Signe's and getting a Joyce Burger at the Resort Grill

I always encourage visitors to go into Sea Pines. It costs $5 per car, but you can come and go all day. There is a stable where you can take trail rides, South Beach Marina where the Salty Dog restaurant and shops are located, and Harbour Town where the iconic lighthouse, upscale shops, and more restaurants are located.

I would also recommend you visit Coligny Plaza which includes casual shops and restaurants and is near the popular public beach.

The best part of our last trip to HHI in August was the beach at low tide. We were there with DBro & his family and in addition to our 3 kids also had our niece along too, the kids ranged in age from 7 to 14 yrs and had a great time checking out the tidal pools along the beach.

:)

Thanks to Simba's Mom, we found this place and loved the food. We ate there twice during a 2 night stay on HHI!

There is. Just have to follow the paved trail to the left, I believe. I ran it nearly every morning while there a few years back. Also, I highly recommend the kayaking excursion. It's right there at the resort and toodles around the inlet. Fun, relaxing, yet a decent workout, too. Have fun!

Thank you everyone for your trips and keep them coming! I will be sure to print this all out and keep it in our travel folder. We are very excited about this trip, we have never been to the East Coast or South Beaches. Now here is hoping we don't have a problem booking at the 7 month window! I hope we are able to stay for 10 days of sun and relaxation.

Warmly, Erika
