Hi,
This will be my first vacation as a DVC member, and my first time to Hilton Head. I hastily booked a trip for my 24th birthday weekend. Does anyone have any suggestions on things not to miss or do. Also will I be able to use the pool still Nov 1-4? Is there a Disney gift shop or restaurant? Thanks for any help...

Hey, Bill - Happy birthday to you. Take a look at that other thread on the Planning Forum - Last minute trip to HHI - this Friday!! I don't know if you'll want to use the pool this weekend, but the large hot tub will be nice. Weather looks pretty good - upper 70s, I think. The beach should be nice. There is a very small gift shop at the resort, not much in the way of a restaurant. But, as I said to global mom, across the bridge in Shelter Cove are several good restaurants.

Thanks for your help. I'll look at the other post. Do you know what kind of activities they offer guests at HHI?
Bill

The activities are seasonal, so tend to be more numerous in the summer. But we once took a dolphin cruise w/ another couple. I would do that again. I think there are some kayaking opportunities, and maybe some sightseeing cruises. They usually don't run these things themselves, but hook you up w/ local vendors, which is OK. And bike rental is a big thing at Disney and all over the Island. It's an easy way to get over into Palmetto Dunes where the Beach House is.

Bike riding is the way to travel around the resort and to the beach. The pool water is heated to apprx 84 degrees year round( found that out last Feb when we were there). They still have some activities scheduled in the fall and winter for the kids. We love the ghost tales just as much as our kids did, Old Blue Crabb tells them by the fireplace in the den. We also enjoyed the campfire and smores making with the kids.

They do have a small gift shop/grocery store and a small counter service food shop. It's ok for a sandwich, but we prefer to try the area's restaurants. We like Guiseppi's Pizza for variety. They have good pizza, wings, wraps, salads, sandwiches, etc. For seafood, we like They Oyester Factory. There are many others that we still want to experience. Hope you have a great trip and a wonderful birthday. By the way, we will be there Veteran's Day weekend, and we can't wait. We love fall of the year at the beach.

Hey Bill, I agree that cycling around is the best way to go... really fun, relaxing, and gets you to where you want to be real quick... they have bike benches pretty much everywhere.

It is home industry at it's best. In an very upscale community these girls and warm and funny. We went in 8/06 and saw their coupon in the community to do book. College age sisters run the "cruise" on a boat outfitted with fishing rods and chicken necks.
You get taken out into the water and they have history, stories and porpoise stories.
You all "catch" and release the crabs to see who can catch the most. Lots of fun for ages 6-75. I remember is being under $40. for both of us, which is cheap for an "on-water" experience.
There is a seafood restaurant over the bridge that had a happy hour shrimp special and friendly bartenders.
Go to the campfires and sing alongs-they are fun.
We love the relaxation of HHI.
