Hilton Head Island - 2015 Roll Call

When is a good time to go to this resort? I prefer not to go in the summer.

Just booked Aug 16-21 in a 2 bd. We are adopting our son this March from China so we are excited this will be his first Disney experience. Taking it slow and hitting HH instead of WDW the first year.
(Though we will go to HK DL before we pick him up with our 3 daughters).

Can't wait to make it back to HH. It will be 4 years since our last trip.

We've gone in February, March, April, November, and December. Althou we haven't yet been in October, the CMs there say it's the best! November December and February were sometimes pretty cold. And a fewrestaurants tend to have winter hours from December 1 until Valentine's Day. I remember that last November 30 we were at Skull Creek Boathouse on the last day they'd be serving lunch until March, for instance.

I thought late April was getting a little too hot, especially since we had a balcony that faced the sun in the AM. No coffee on the balcony for us!

We are back in May. We are going May 17th to 22nd. First time a studio, next a two bedroom, this time around a 1 bedroom. Can't wait and neither can the whole family. I think we love it at HHI more than going to WDW, and its only half the travel distance!:beach:

We've gone in July and October. For a family with young kids I would go in the summer. Lots of kids around and family activities. Plus it's obviously warm enough for water activities. In October it was definitely an older crowd with very few families. Our kids would have been bored though dh and I went alone that trip so it was fine. We were there the first week of October and it was in the 70s. Perfect for most people, but way too cold for me. I like it in the upper 80s if I'm near a beach or pool.

We wil be there March 14-20. So excited and looking forward to it! It will be our first trip to HHI.

I was there in December and the entire island was a ghost town. I have never seen outlets that empty so close to Christmas. And the weather wasn't cold, either. So while I'm sure the beaches are beautiful in the summer, I don't picture myself heading there during peak season. It was great to have the entire HHI Resort to ourselves, not much traffic on the local roads, and the beach nice and quiet to sit out and relax.

Isn't December a nice, quiet time to go? We were only there for the first few days of December but it was so nice.

Going for Memorial Day weekend... May 21-26 in a 2BR with my hubs and in-laws! We got to eat there on a trip a few years ago, and we can't wait to go see the rest of the resort!

What is it like in January? We are looking to head down the middle of January 2016. We are from Ohio so anything over 20 degrees will be a heat wave. :)

Hoping to take 1st trip to HHI this July! We are currently wait listed, fingers are crossed!

We will be there August 23rd to 29th (6 nights) in a 2 bedroom villa with our two sons and my parents-in-law. We did four nights there in late September last year, and the weather wasn't great. We went in the pool and beach a little bit, but it certainly wasn't warm enough for us to just hang out in bathing suits all day. That said, the island wasn't crowded, and we obviously had a great time because we are going back. I'm hoping late August will be a tiny bit cooler than peak summer, at least at night, and that most school aged kids will be back in school. (Schools in the south tend to start pretty early.)

Aug 30 - Sept 4. Haven't been since the remodel. I REALLY loved the fishing cottage decor and I'm a little apprehensive. Hope it still seems like home.

You reminded me of a particular well-known cast member, who told me that before the remodel, it seemed like a fishing camp, but now it feels like Florida 80's condos! But maybe he was just grumbly because Shadow's footprints are gone! I know lots of us miss Shadow's footprints and I hate the new kitchen island style and small porch table, but overall we thought there were more hits than misses.

For those of you that have been before with kids, I'm curious what you found your kids playing with the most that you brought down. Thinking of things like beach toys, pool toys, games for in the room if rainy weather, etc. We've never done a full fledge beach trip with the kids (ages 7 and 11) and I wanna make sure I don't underpack/overpack.

Thanks!!
