Hi, I have plans to stay at Hilton Head in the beginning of November, and was wondering if there are any other ways to have groceries delivered to your room other than using the order form on the DVC member website? Also, will all of the restaurants nearby be closed at that time of year? Any information or recommendations would be really appreciated. Thanks!

I don't know about having groceries delivered there - I've never had that done, but you might check the wegoshop website to see if they serve HH. As far as restaurants being opened. I've been in Oct. and everything seems to be open still. I went once in late Dec./early Jan. and a few places appeared to close around Jan 1st for the winter. I think November is still probably full of golfers - so things should still be in full swing there.

Thanks for the tip. Just checked wegoshop.com and they will begin delivery service as of September 1, 2005! :cool1:

We love Marley's and I can't imagine it would be closed in November...kind of Jamaican theme, funky, convenient, reasonably priced (keeping in mind that most HH restaurants are a little pricey). Also, if you want a real Southern, casual seafood place, check out Hudson's off of Squire Pope Road (a bit of a drive from Disney property but not bad). Their she-crab soup is heavenly...and, if you like it, you can order some "to go"!

We are hoping to visit HH for the first time next year and would be interested in knowing the best restuarants in the area, fun things to do, and for my hubby, the best golf courses!!

Also, is it further to drive from WDW to HH or from VEro to HH? How long would it take from each and is it an easy drive>!!? Worried that we may kill each other before we get there!!
Thanks
Debs

According to Mapquest, it looks like the drive time from Vero to HH would be about 6 hours and just under 400 miles...driving from WDW to HH would be about 330 miles and maybe an hour or so quicker. You'll love HH!

Thank you for that! We will be coming from England, so have only driven as far as Vero from WDW so far.....................is it an easy drive and do you think we'll find our way!?? Is there anywhere nice that we can stop on the way?

There are a couple of great places to stop along the way... St. Augustine, Florida (near Jacksonville) is a great little city. It's the oldest city in the US. (I know we don't have the history England does, but we try. ;) ) Also, about an hour outside of Hilton Head is Savannah, GA, another city with a lot of history and a fun place to spend a few hours.

If you're going to be driving around HH be careful of the traffic circles (you call them "roundabouts"). When I was in London, I got totally freaked out, because not only do we drive on the right side of the road, but our traffic circles go counter-clockwise!!

What day will you be driving from WDW to HH? Saturdays in summer are the worst day of the week. Other than that, the drive is pretty easy---hit the I-95 and go straight up to South Carolina exit no. 8, which puts you on Hwy. 278, all the way into HH. We always push straight through and do it in 5 hours door to door (including one stop for gas).

If you're interested in restaurant ideas, hit the search button. We all have our favorites!!!!

So far DH has played 5 different courses on the island, so many to go (as he keeps reminding me!). His favorite so far was right across the way, the Robert Trent Jones course at Palmetto Dunes. We've gone in February, and all the resturaunts were open then. A few seem to close January to mid-February, that's all. We enjoyed Cafe Europa (pricey, but don't forget the DVC discount there), Captain's Seafood, also Hudson's, and look forward to Signe's for breakfast-November 2006 (such a long wait!)
