instead of taking the bus...can we drive our own car?

Yes, there is parking available (both underground and surface parking). Guests are cetainly welcome to bring their own chairs and umbrellas. There is a snack bar at the Beach House and another one about 200 yards to the north along the beach - just past the Marriott.

The resort facility, while using private access via room keys, also serves as a public access to the beach - so parking can be a bit scarce at some times of the year. There is a nice bike trail to the beach, the shuttle runs back and forth throughout the day and the resort parking pass will also provide access to the facility at the guard shack.

But it would be if you are carrying beach chairs. We drove our car there and took our own beach chairs (which saved a lot of money as opposed to renting them). It was very convenient!

If you are inexperienced with the cartop bubble and go for the enclosed garage parking under the beach resort as I did last summer....didn't quite make it. Thankfully just dented it a good one. No trouble once the dent was there getting out though.

Would it be easier to take the shuttle or your own car if you were bringing beach chairs, cooler etc?

If going during slow season...taking the shuttle over with your chairs and cooler is not a problem. But it would be a major problem if you have a full shuttle and here you come with chairs, coolers...etc.

We were there just 2 weeks ago and when we took the shuttle our family of 8 was the only one on the shuttle each time. So it would have not been any problems for us to bring the extra stuff.
