Hilton Head Beach Club Closed week March 5th

Hi Eveyone,

We are going to Hilton Head for a week during the first of March and just received a note from DVC about the Beach Club being closed for this week. They are doing pool and pool deck refurbishment during this period.

I guess the refurb could be going on now, however, being notified 10 days before your trip kind of irks me. I guess it is better than finding out at the front desk. I have to think that this project wasn't a spur of the moment event and did have to have some planning by DVC. It would have been nice when I made the reservation 3 weeks ago to have been provided this information so we could have considered a different option. I understand that the Big Dipper pool is going to open, however, I personally find it too loud and full of small kids ( we have older kids now). Of course, this is fine but the beach house is much more relaxed and quieter.

Oh well......I am done venting.

Have you been to HH before during March? We've been several times in early March, and no one's even been at the Beach House whenever we've biked over there. So they probably figured that based on previous occupancy (or lack there-of), it wasn't urgent to notify guests of its closing. People have used the Big Dipper pool, but not lots, like the summer. March isn't prime swimming weather, IMHO.

I doubt there will be too many people in the pool unless you are lucky enough to have some warmer weather.

However, I agree with you. I also like to go to the Beach House to have the peace and quiet there, as well as sometimes to get lunch. We were there last March.

Too bad they didn't make a note to tell people as they called MS for reservations. I personally would still have gone, but it would have at least given you the option of not going. I hope you have a good trip anyway.
