We've narrowed down our choices to Hilton Head, Beach Club and Boardwalk. We feel the ages of our kids (12, 9, 4, 4) require a resort that's going to grow with them.

I'm not familiar with Hilton Head, but we know many people who rent condos there on a regular basis. We would be going during prime season due to our schedules in education.

What activities does Hilton Head have for the kids?

Can anyone direct me to some better pics of the resort than what's in the DVC brochure?

thanks,
Michelle

I would call the resort directly and ask them to send you a copy of the current activity schedule. While the times will vary from week-to-week, the types of activities remains pretty much the same. You can get an idea of what is offered and what the costs are.

Tommy's site has great pictures of HH and a LOT of other info. Have fun!

Here are a few activities that we participated in. My DS is 8.

Dolphin Excursions
Story time with B'lou
T-shirt Painting with Dead fish
Detective training
Pirates on a treasure Hunt
Campfires with Marshmallows and S'mores
Bike riding
Beach house activities/games
Shadow hunting
Pool time play with the lifeguards staff
(Bunches of other stuff I can't remember)

There were so many things to do. I really wanted to do the nature trails, but no time.

DS enjoyed it so much he wants to go next summer instead of DisneyWorld.

Thanks for the info. Tommy's site was extremely helpful and I found some pics and info at wdwig.com too! We called the timeshare store to make an offer on a Hilton Head listing that just came up. The price is low for what we're getting. Can only hope Disney doesn't execute ROFR on it so we can join in the fun with you all!

In addition to the activities listed by TnRobin, our family also did: kayaking (great!), horseback riding (OK), the cookouts, watched the fireworks, "water tryke" at the beach, fished and crabbed off the dock (we threw everything back because I don't want to clean it, but some people were catching dinner).

There is a ton of stuff to do for "kids" of all ages.

Thanks for the extra info. I thought I had read something about horseback riding, but then couldn't find it today when looking at the resort with my husband online. We also saw the water trikes on the beach in some of the pics from Tommy's site.

Now I really can't wait to get there next summer! Hope my offer goes through!

Disney has stopped offering the horseback riding through the resort, but there are several stables on the island. There is plenty to do not only at the resort but all over the island. We normally go for 5 days (Sun-Thurs) and this year we were there for a full week - it still wasn't long enough. We are looking at our points and trying to figure out how we can stay even longer next summer (Those weekend points are killer!) One reason we chose Hilton Head is because it is somewhere we would like to continue to go every year, even after the kids are gone.

The more I read, the more confident I am that we've made the right choice for a home resort. My husband likes to golf, so after the kids are gone, we too will continue to go there for the golfing I'm sure.

:)

Kocar, if your DH likes to golf as much as mine, he'll think he's found Heaven on Earth when he gets to Hilton Head. As an example-the night before we checked in, we'd selected to stay at a hotel advertised as "one mile from golf". We laughed when we got there-there is probably a golf course within a mile regardless of where you stay! As DH said-"So many golf courses, so little time!"

We haven't figured this out either. We have added on enough to be able to spend an almost week (Sunday-Saturday) in a 2 bedroom every July. That 99 points for a Saturday night is a killer. Short of checking out and back in the next day (a hassle), I haven't come up with a solution which doesn't include another add on (at least 99 pts ;) ). Cash for the night might be an option also.

We also look forward to going to HH every year -- somehow I suspect that we'll be trading off time with the kids. We can only hope that they look forward to spending time at HH with their own children.

Someone else commented that their child would rather go to HH than WDW. While my DS8 loves WDW, he would choose HH over it any day.

Good luck with your offer.:D
