Hi, We are going to Disney in December. We are taking the autotrain down and driving home. We are thinking about staying at Hilton Head. Is it far off of 95? Also will there be things to do and explore? We have never stayed there before.

Thanks!!

I'm not sure if the Christmas decorations are still up, but if they are (and they probably are), it might be nice to stop in and see them. Right across the way in Shelter Cove are shops to visit, and it might be fun just to stroll along the marina and see all the bi, fancy boats that have come in for the holidays. We're major HHI fans (going for Thanksgiving), and we'd stop in for anything-how about a cup of warm apple cider and a cranberry-nut cookie? And a visit with Shadow?

Nice pictures, Simba's Mom! I think we'll be driving to FL from Cape May NJ this December, and we intend to stop at HH for a night or two. Our WDW stay begins on Dec. 29.

According to mapquest, Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort is about 27 miles from I-95 exit #8 in South Carolina.

Thanks for all the replies!! Has anyone stayed there during the Christmas new year holiday time? What kind of activities are there? We have 3 boys 17, 14, and 12. Is there enough to do for 2 days that time of year? Do the rooms have fireplaces?

Thank you!!

Tracie

Only the Grand Villas have fireplaces. We arrived (no kids, just the 2 of us) on NYE and stayed the first week of 2012. It was definitely quiet, but the resort did its usual activities with nature walks and talks, and tie-dye tshirts. And there was cider and those cranberry cookies (sometime chocolate chip) in the foyer outside Big Murggie's Den. It got cold when we were there, so we just visited the hot tub, though I did see a few kids in the pool.
