We will be driving down to WDW in August and we plan on stoping in Jacksonville, FL. I have made a ressie at the Hilton Garden Inn near Jacksonville Airport. Has anyone ever stayed in this hotel? If so, how was it?

I could recommend the Hilton Downtown off 95. Priceline is selling out those rooms for 40 bucks. That is a steal for this property! It's a waterfront property that backs the Jacksonville Landing and there are water taxi's to take you to the landing (shopping area and entertainment). Not to mention there is a Ruths Chris in the hotel that overlooks the river and the landing it's lovely at night not to mention great food and service. Just a thought. I don't know anything about the one over at the airport, any partuilar reason you need to stay at that one? I would imagine it's load with the planes landing and such. I'm very familar with jacksonville for if I can help you out just holler.

If I may, I would like to tack onto your thread, and ask about the St. Augustine Beach Hilton Gargen Inn. We will be stopping there, and actually spending the day. Is it a decent place to stay for two nights?

TIA

MG: I can't vouch for the Hilton GI in ST. Augustine. I will say you will enjoy st. augustine very much and recommend you take the time to do a carriage ride around the city you can get familar with were things are it's a lovely town. The Coumbia Resturant in the Historic City is A+++ it's worth your time and energy to find this place! We stayed at the CASA MONICA hotel and it's a short two or so blocks to the Columbia. If your interested you can check out the www.casamonica.com it's a 4* place and wonderful place to stay. Sorry I could'nt help you with your pert. choice. I really did'nt see any impressive hotels along the historic district that I would like to stay, although if it's Hilton brand i'm sure you'll be fine. Enjoy St. Augustine it's a treasure. If you do any of the tours be sure to get the little ent. guide at the convience stores on your way off the interstate there are tons of discounts there for tours.

I am afraid to use Priceline for an area that I am not a custom to. You never know what hotel you a going to get. I wanted to just drive until I got tired and then find a place, but my wife was afraid that we might not be able to find a place that was resonably priced that way. So, I just picked this exit and did a search and found the Hilton Garden INN at the Airport. The other place sounds nice. But, by the time we arrive and then leave the next day, I don't think the view is really that important to us. I was looking for something a little nicer then a Days Inn or a Holiday Inn.

I see your leaving soon and wanted you to know, don't be afraid of Priceline. I just got a room at the Hilton in Jacksonville for the 7th of August at the 38 rate I was telling you about. I bid for a *3 in the Jacksonville area only and it came back won bid! Total cost was 46.00 that's with taxes and such. This hotel is beautiful and right off Int 95 which is where you'll be. I could give you great directions and be glad to help you anyway I could. I'm so excited I'm taking my 10yo dd school clothes shopping and doing a little mother daugther thing with her she'll be so surpised! Good Luck and I'm here if you have ??'s
