I have been a loyal Hilton customer for a number of years. On June 23, I cancelled a pending reservation, and reviewed my file to insure all reservations had been cancelled. They showed nothing pending. On July 7, I was charged $200 as a no-show for the room that was cancelled. By this time period, I had thrown away my cancellation number. Hilton will not stand by their website, and will not assist me in this. So, as a warning, don't be foolish as I was---keep your cancellation numbers at least a few billing cycles. I now have 25000 frequent points for a company that I will not do business with-anyone know of anywhere they can be donated? Will Make a wish take them?

Unfortunately, Make a Wish accepts loyalty points only from Best Western and Starwood programs. If you have any airline frequent flyer programs, you could convert the Hilton points to miles and then donate those to Make a Wish. They accept airline miles from almost any major airline.

Just a thought -- I always print and retain cancellations in a file folder for at least 6 months after the cancel date is past to avoid problems like this.

Did you check your HHonors Activity in the Hilton file on their website? It shows all of your transactions. I'm not sure if it shows cancellations though.

Eeyore1954: Thanks for the info on MAW. I will also plan on following your advice re: cancellations.

damo: Unfortunately, my account only shows the last reservations made, not the cancellations. I had checked this area after I made the cancellations, so that is why I am so diappointed in Hilton.com.

Unfortunately, I don't know of any hotel site that stores cancellations. I've even had problems retreiving that data from sites like Expedia, Orbitz, etc. Seems like once a reservation is cancelled, the data disappears -- but sometimes NOT from the hotel's financial system.

I got "burned" once on a cancellation... that's why I "packrat" them now. It's a pain, but most places now charge a FULL night's fee plus taxes. :earseek:

Actually the Hilton site does store them, but only for a week or so.

I agree with Eyeore1954, I always print a copy of the cancallation/booking.

I'm pretty sure Hilton also sends an e-mail when you cancel online--have you checked your old e-mails to see if just maybe you have something there?
