I just posted this as a reply in another thread but thought people might want to see it here, too.

I forgot to add the only thing we didn't like was no balconies. I thought I would like it at first, no worries ab out kids out there, but it was hard to know what to wear in the morning without stepping outside! We had 50's in the mornings and 70's in the afternoon.

We also enjoyed the hotel. We had asked for the disney view upgrade when they sent us the e-mail (you'll get one from Hilton offering the possibility of upgrading to park view, a suite, to the Waldorf, etc) and we got one. We were on the 15th floor - room 1519 and my mom was 1515. We had a beautiful view of the pool, lake, golf course, HS and Epcot if we kind of pressed our faces against the window and looked to the right.

My kids loved the pool - the lazy river is so long. Both daughters had their hair wrapped down there, too. We did eat at the poolside restaurant - it was delicious! We started with nachos that were amazing, we almost got another order. I even asked what kind of cheese because I was afraid it wold be that gross orange cheese they use at Disney, but nope, it was a blend of 4 cheeses that the waiter listed but I forget. Then we all had something different I think - kids grilled cheese, kids chicken fingers, some kind of tuna flatbread that was the good, thin sliced raw kind of tuna. Everyone loved what they had.

We also ate at La Luce, the Italian restaurant - delicious!! Pretty expensive, but not outrageous. We were supposed to go to Portobellos that night, but one of my daughters got sick so we switched to eat int he hotel so one of us (DH!) could stay with her and the rest of us would still be close. DH got room service that night - he got a cornish game hen, but i forgot to ask him how it was. Kids just got chicken fingers. (I don't have very adventerous eaters)

There are two spots to get coffee, snacks, etc - one in the main lobby and one area in front of the Harvest restaurant. My kids got their desserts there and said they were great - rice krispy treats, oreo cake bar, cupcake, ice cream.

There was one bar that was always empty, then the lobby bar which was empty the first night but packed the second with a convention group. We let the kids get snacks and went and sat over there for a drink, it was nice.

Overall the place was great. However, if I had the choice between that and Wyndham I'd pick Wyndahm only because of the size - you can't beat having the space to spread out, the kids in their own room and the option to make your own dinner. We paid $97/night for Hilton (not including parking & taxes) and when we split Wyndham with another family it worked out to $86 per night per family.

Thanks for the detailed review! We've been looking at this one since we're going on our first non-WDW orlando trip!

Stayed there for a work conference in April 2010. My god, what a beautiful resort. WOW. I love the lagoon style pool, I love that there were 2 hot tubs, a lot of patio/beach chairs aroudn the lagoon, as well as a bar near the lagoon pool. So much fun. The fitness centre was immaculate as well. Not enough free weights, but plenty of machines to get a workout on, lots of treadmills and elipticals as well and free weights if im not mistaken.

We ate at the hotel restaurant downstairs, the one with the fridge on the right side with all of the beer, soda, etc. Not bad at all. We had dinning cards, but the food was great, and the beer was cheap. The bar upstairs on the main floor, also very nice. It was relatively new at the time, but was great to sit down and socialize. The outdoor steps to teh lagoon pool, very nice to look at and walk around.

You can actually walk onto the golf course as well, we did that by mistake a few times and were told to leave the one time we were caught. We took a big company picture at the gondola area or that private part where there's a bridge to walk across for a private event. Not a bad looking place.

The view we had was of the front of the hotel, but there were like 40+ rooms booked for us, so my luck of the draw. The room was your standard hotel room, 2 queen beds, a flat screen TV, a basic washroom and bath. But it smelt and felt new. Loved it.

For a family I can imagine this a great place to stay. The shuttle service was a great thing as well, and it's very close to downtown disney. I tried to book there again except it's very expensive and they don't participate in priceline or hotwire.

But yes, a stunning resort to be sure.

Thanks for the report! We are staying there this Friday for 2 nights before our free dining at POR. If it wasn't for the free dining I think we would have stayed our whole trip at Hilton since we got our room for $80 through one of those discount travel sites and everything about it looks so nice.
