Hi everyone, new to these boards....
Has anyone stayed at the hilton anaheim??? Did you like it and is it with in easy walking distance???

Thanks so much for your help!:tinker:

Disneyland he we come July 13th....... :woohoo:

I've stayed at the Hilton a few times, but it's been quite awhile. My experience was always good, however I think the hotel caters more to business guests and convention goers than families. I don't know how well its been maintained over the past few years, but I'm sure it's still reasonably nice as far as hotels go (and nicer than most of the many motels and inns in the area).

The Hilton is within walking distance, but I don't recommend it. It's not nearly as close as the on-site hotels or the motels on Harbor, and it really seems like a long walk after walking the parks all day. I would save my feet and take the ART --- or, if it's during the peak season and the back parking lot behind DCA is open, cut through the Convention Center, cross Katella, and catch the parking lot tram to the park.

I stayed there in 1994 as part of a convention, yes they seem to cater a lot of business and conventions. It was nice though, but I stayed there a long time ago! No, I would not consider that walking distance for us! Not with so many closer motels.

DITTO for all of the above. I have stayed they annually for the past 4 years for busness all times in January of the year. The hotel is beautiful but I would not pick it for a Disneyland visit solely. It is a loooong walk. They only have double size beds (from memory) and I prefer a queen myself. Never used the pool as we were there in January but it is nice looking. I think you can do better price and location on Harbor alone....

I stayed at the Hilton last year and was very pleased with my room. Be sure to check for any discounts for which you might be eligible. I was able to get a great AAA rate and stayed for under $100 a night.

We stayed at the Hilton in 2004. Never again. The standard rooms were so outdated and weary that a reno was much needed. The double beds were sloped down in the middle. The bathroom was teeny tiny that only one person can be in there at one time--not very convenient when you are trying to help a young child in the tub. More on the bathroom, the tiles on the wall and floor were brown with grout that when wet, you can see the brown stains coming down the walls. A vent above the tub dripped water so even after the shower is turned off, you would get this annoying drip coming down on your head. We laid our towels on the floor so we didn't have to step on that gross floor. Housekeeping was much to be desired. Trays of used dishes were lying in the hallway--it was there when we left in the morning and still there when we got back in the evening.

DH and I both initially thought that we could stick it out at the hotel (and we did) since we weren't there all day, only coming back at the end of the day to sleep. But it did matter after a while, since it was so unpleasant to come back to get the kids ready for bed in a dingy room and in an unhygienic bathroom--too hard to relax.

Front desk was non-responsive to our complaint about our room and refused to do anything for us. I guess the hotel was too busy with convention goers and business travellers. We have never complained about any hotel room before--the Hilton Anaheim is the only hotel we have ever been disappointed in. Beyond the grand lobby, the rooms are motel-ish looking. It's just not what one would expect from a Hilton hotel and for the price paid.

On the upside, I have read good reviews of the hotel, but most of those reviewers were in rooms on the Executive floor. So, if you want a good stay, I guess you would need to be on one of those Executive floor rooms.

You can walk the distance from the hotel to DL. We did it every morning with our DDs and did it sometimes at the end of the day because the ART was full. It takes about 15 minutes each way.

Based on our unpleasant stay at this hotel, I cannot recommend this hotel to you. How about staying at the Hyatt Orange County, Doubletree Guest Suites or the Hilton Garden Inn?

P.S. For more reviews of the hotel, go to www.tripadvisor.com.

We have had great experiences at the Hilton Anaheim. We use the ART instead of walking. You do so much walking in the park it was nice to sit on the ART.

We stayed at the Hilton for one night in December 2006. Like the previous posters have said, it is primarily a business/convention hotel. You could walk but it is quite a distance, especially at the end of a long day with tired kids (and adults). I would use ART. I would suggest considering Hilton Suites Anaheim/Orange by Angel Stadium. Lots more room and easy to get to the park on ART. It's been awhile since we stayed there -- February 2005 so it could have changed. Honestly, now we stay at GCH -- one stay and we were spoiled forever! :rotfl:
Have a great time on your trip.
