Actually, he IS white. At least he is just as much white as he is black, which for some reason many people seem to ignore. Perhaps one could argue slightly more white than black when you account for mitochondrial DNA, (we're all ever-so-slightly more our mother's children than our father's) and the fact that he was mostly raised by his white grandparents. But really, who cares?

The reason I am pointing this out is I too am tired of the racial talk. His race doesn't matter, and he is essentially no more of one than the other. I like Hillary better for her views and experience..period. If I thought Obama had better positions on the issues and the experience needed to lead the free world, I would be right in his court. I don't at this time.

If he is the nominee, I will have to consider very carefully who I will vote for in the general. I will keep an open mind during the debates and probably base my decision on how he and McCain answer questions on the issues. I refuse to get caught up in all the extraneous distractions and the partisan pot shots.

I never had a problem voting for an African American candidate. I do have a problem voting for Obama.

I like that approach. :) I'm determined right now to vote for the Democratic candidate but I still intend to listen to McCain. I would do so even if Hillary was the candidate because I like to know all about them.

Where was his Mother? Also, does he have brothers and sisters?

You may get a more accurate answer from an Obama supporter, but from what I recall reading, his mother stayed in Indonesia and sent him back to Hawaii to live with his grandparents. I believe, but not sure, that was when he was middle school aged, but maybe sooner.

I also think they lived with the grandparents when he was smaller too for some time.

I know he has a half-sister who is half-American and half-Indonesian through his mother and I believe some other half-siblings from the father's side. You don't hear much about them, but I did see a photo of his sister in Time not too long ago.

I can't stand his pauses when he talks. It's almost like he forgot the words.

They said last night that he actually reads his speaches from a teleprompter.

That is what first turned me off to him was his speeches and all the pauses and that he, at first, was preaching to me and not talking to me...I felt that I was in church and it offended me because I find GOD very personal to me and he made me feel as if he were preaching the word of GOD and not politics. Even though he was not it felt that way.

Yes he is half white but most persons usually will choose to either go with one ethnic group or the other. And most African Americans lean towards there black culture not there white culture because we all need to identify with feeling like a place where we fit in.

as for the racial talk...there is so much race in the Race that it stinks. I feel that Obamas candidacy is using it as a trump card because it is so politically incorrect to do so. To a point it is a smart idea so to not let Race become the main topic and to keep it at a lull through most of the campaign.

I just hate that it is used IMO as a scare tactic ...you know if I dont get it it is because I am black...or if you dont give it to him than it's because he is black and we will riot and scream RACISM. And the SD that may feel that Hillary is the best candidate to beat McCain will not go against him even if they feel that Hillary is the better to beat McCain because they dont want to be called Racist or doing back room deals. IMO they will not do what's good for the Country they will do what is politically correct. In addition will all the talk about if they do that the party will fall apart keeps them going to Obama.

I'm a Hillary fan. Obama is too slick for me.

That being said, I'm surprised Hillary supporters would seriously consider McCain. Obama and Hillary are almost identical on the issues, where it counts.

McCain has the potential to be disastrous for women. He's basically four more years of Bush. And he'll bring with him all the Republican players with their Republican agenda... and he'll provide the last vote to overturn Roe v. Wade.

The two main negatives of McCain are Iraq and the Supreme Court. I don't think any president could achieve an immediate withdrawal from Iraq, and I think McCain's recent views on the subject have brought him more into the center (he is no longer saying indefinite stay in Iraq, but shooting for 2012) and with a Democratic Congress pushing him, he will have very little choice but a pull out.

So we are down to the Court. I really do not know the answer to that one. A right wing Supreme Court can do so much harm in so many areas besides abortion rights-we have to consider environment, discrimination, consumer protection, etc.

As far as Obama being better, I am not convinced of it. For one thing, I don't think he will be able to push through his health care bill (which is also not as good as Hillary's). I also think he is going to be a pushover who will not be able to get anything accomplished.

These are all serious considerations and will figure into the vote I cast in November.

I'm going to wait until the General election to decide on McCain. If he is not for me, I'll consider the independant. I find Obama's character too questionable.

I just hope McCain can't do much damage. The house has a majority of dems, so I don 't think he can go wild with republican views.

The problem for Obama is too many of his supporters are so over the top at times that everyone is hating on him for it.

They are like the die hard Bush supporters that think he can do no wrong. IMO that is what is really scaring so many of the HS.

By loving him so much they are going to loose the general election for him if he wins the primary.

As a resident of Florida Hillary has me pretty peved right now!

She is on TV going on and on about counting the votes in Florida!

Where was she in January when we were voting? Now that she needs our votes she wants them counted. She had no problem signing the pact to throw our votes out back then, what gives now?

I'll vote for her if she gets the nod, but this does not sit well with me at all!

If that is why people don't vote for Obama, then Hillary doesn't have a prayer.

I find all the talk interesting but my vote will not be based on how someones supporters act. I think I'll go with the issues.

Glad to hear someone in FL has noticed this. That speech she just gave has me more than peeved.

Hillary's crocodile tears over the "disenfranchised Florida voter" has been making me hurl for a while.

Until she needed the votes to concoct her delusional scenarios, she kissed FL goodbye as just one more annoyance in her march to her coronation.

If she gets the nod, it means there were backroom deals, arm twisting, or blackmail. She cannot win this thing in the popular vote, the pledged delegates, or the SD's. She's losing on all sides.

To get the nod, she needs to take the election from Obama. She cannot win the nomination fair and square. Sorry, if the DNC is stupid enough to go along with her schemes, she doesn't met my vote.

Go insult Hillary in your own thread OS.....we dont want to read it here.

Use "ignore" and you won't have to.

Well she was the same place Obama was. And she has been saying that the votes should count since the beggining. And you sound like a Obama supporter anyway. So I would expect you would not like what she is saying....

Then count my vote when I vote! Not when it's convienent to you!

Sorry, but Florida of all states? She should know better!

My vote isn't based on how other supporters act, but I can say that some Obama supporters aren't swaying us by mentioning that there would be riots if there canidate doesn't get the nomination. My vote will be based on who I think is best. And I do believe it's Hillary. If she doesn't get it, I have no plans to riot, loot or burn my town.

Use "ignore" and you won't have to.

I will not use ignore in this thread ...Too many times you OS come over here to start trouble and post nasty remarks about our candidate...so do we have to start coming into your thread and do the same....because that would not be a problem ya know....

:scared1: You again!!!

Play nice now...
