Right. Crowds don't mean much. I found out the hard way.

Remember this?

kerry_clinton_wideweb__430x298.jpg

And this?

1029-03.jpg

I was so SURE of a BIG Kerry/Edwards victory after seeing those crowds. Those things dont fool me anymore.

Funny how the media forgot all about those crowds and making like Obama is the only one in History to gather up a crowd:cool2: seems they forgot

I wouldn't say Texas always goes Republican, though that has been the trend lately.

Historically, we've had 39 Democrat governors and 6 Republican. In fact Bill Clements, in 1979, was the first Republican in 100 years. Basically, an indication of the state going from rural farming economy to more upscale big city dwellers and tech jobs.
You're right - I should have qualified that with "always goes Republican lately". My complete disgust with our current governor winning again is coming through. :headache:

I also live in a super Conservative area and it feels overwhelming. Yet Hillary and Obama drew big crowds up here.

Why is it a great surprise that, when a losing candidate flushes $212,000,000 down the crapper, it stays a lead story? It's a story of hubris, how not to run a campaign, and how to lose.

In that respect, Hillary ought to shake hands with Rudolph Giulani.

Btw, regardless of whether Obama outspent Hillary or not, he came out the winner. That's the other side of the story.

And what "dirt"? Did she spend $212,000,000 on a losing campaign or not? That isn't "dirt". That's a fact. Since when do facts become "dirt"?

Instead of pointing fingers at everyone, Hillary ought to be pointing fingers at herself and wonder why, when she had it all going in (money, name recognition, sense of inevitability, etc.,) she lost. Maybe Mark Penn should've been given the boot instead of a paycheck when it became clearly obvious his advice strategy wasn't a winning one? Maybe someone in Hillary's high priced campaign should've looked at the rise in Hillary's negatives as she was in "kitchen sink mode". They would've seen what the rest of us saw: It wasn't working.

This can go on and on, but the fact is, Hillary spend $212,000,000 to lose.
Following this line of logic, one could say that no one who has a shot should spend money because they might just lose and therefore the money was ill spent. I agree that Hillary could stand to do some soul searching as to why she lost but saying that she shouldn't have spent the money is pointless IMO.

Not AS MUCH "soul searching" that Obama will be doing on Nov 5th!:lmao: When he goes down as the "WINNER" of the Most spent on a loosing campaign!

Huh? Where did I say she shouldn't have spent the money? For all I care, she could've spent twice as much and be $60,000,000 in debt.

However, what I did say was she didn't spend the money wisely. And the proof, as they say, is in the pudding.

I fear the consequences for you if he wins. Oh the horror. Whatta world, whatta world. :lmao:

Could the media be swinging a bit on Obama? I heard them mention several times today on CNN, how the rupulicans are saying that Obama will equal much higher taxes for all. The Republicans are trying to chip away at the great Obama! And this is only the beginning.

The Republicans are starting to pick apart everything he says. They are good at that.

I've been bummed - as I heard he wants to pick someone with military credentials for VP - that implies Clark or Webb. Not my ideal ticket. I will have to do a lot of soul searching these next few months........

Not Clark!!! Clark is Hillary's man....till the death do they part!

Hillary Ghost Hangs Over Obama Unity Event

Party chairman Howard Dean barely completed one line praising the presumptive Democratic nominee, Obama, before showing sympathy to Clinton's complaint that she was treated unfairly during the nomination process.

"We congratulate Senator Obama, and we are working at the DNC already to make sure that he is the next President of the United States. I also want to say how extraordinary grateful we are to Senator Hillary Clinton for her leadership and her extraordinary commitment to America and the Democratic Party," said Dr. Dean.

The Speaker continued with a little bit of praise for Obama, a little attack on the Republicans, and oh, by the way: "We come together on a day that is very important -- as I mentioned Sen. Clinton's important leadership for women -- today…….is the 45 Anniversary of the signing of the Equal Pay Act. And we want all of those women who came out for Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, especially those who came out for Hillary Clinton, to know that the work goes on," Pelosi added.

It's early yet. I think that at least a month has to pass for the passions to subside. However, I do agree with you. I just don't see it happening ever. If the situation is the same in a month's time, Obama is toast in the general.

So MSNBC is printing a supposed list of Obama VP choices.

What do you all think?

1. Ret. Gen James Jones
2. Hillary
3. John Kerry
4. John Edwards
5. Evan Bayh
6. Kathleen Sebelius
7. Ted Strickland
8. Mark Warner
9. Tim Kaine
10. Jim Webb
11. Bill Nelson
12. Jack Reed
13. Joe Biden
14. Chris Dodd
15. Tom Daschle
16. Sam Nunn

is that the order of his choice? Short list to long list...I wonder...or did you just post them like that?:confused3

And may I add again...Pelosi is a Blah....and Howard is a weenie :lmao:
Lets hear it for the Democratic leaders :cool1:

No - it wasn't in any particular order - I copied it from the website - I just listed them in numerical order - to me it was easier to read than in a paragraph.....

Oh, WOW at the comments there! I wonder what would happen if enough people wrote Hillary's name in the ballot? Not saying it's going to happen, but if a write-in got more votes that the official candidates would s/he begome president?

That's how I feel right now - but I'm not holding my breath - I don't think he thinks he needs her.......

I agree. IMO if he was doing what's best for the party and to win in Nov he would ask her, HOPING she'd say yes. That'd be the surest way to get the votes most of the 18 million who voted for her.

But I'd doubt his ego would allow it. Im sure he would LOVE to show everyone that he can win without her. But it's becoming more obvious that he can't

Technically she could, but I doubt she'd receive enough write in votes. However I really wish that all the Dems that are considering voting for McCain would do a write in for Hillary instead. It would make a heck of a statement. Without the stink of voting for McCain.

Yeah, instead of writing Mickey Mouse or such, if everyone wrote in for her....
It'd be another first.
