Hiking/Jogging Trails on the Property?

I live in the Northeast, and am an avid hiker. I also appreciate having trails or tracks to drag on. Gotta keep those legs moving!

I've spent some time in Florida, but never investigated where I might be able to pursue this next semester when I'll be down there working as a CM.

Advice appreciated.

About an hour north of Disney is the Ocala National Forest. There are trails inside the forest. Understand, these are not the trails you may be familiar with. Not heavy forest, more scrub pine but there are a bunch of trails.

There is a Disney Wilderness Preserve outside of Kissimmee that was set aside at the time of the building of Animal Kingdom. There is a loop trail, several miles in length, if I remember right. Uncrowded, great hike, and a chace to get away from it all.

Keep in mind that while we have some very interesting terrain features here in the Northeast, Florida is comparatively flat, and Disney property, doubly-so. There isn't anything on-property that I would consider a hiking trail. There is a few "nature trails" so if all you're looking for is a nice walk in the woods, those would serve. I especially like the trail from the Wilderness Lodge to Trails End in Ft. Wilderness.

Also, many walkers/joggers/cyclists have reported that Disney Security picks up anyone found walking/jogging/cycling in an area that is not designated for such. So if there is not a sidewalk/marked path, etc., guests aren't supposed to go there.

You can't just go tromping around the scrub on property.
