Hey everyone,

I saw someone else recently posted asking for places to eat along 101 to Disneyland but I didn’t want to hijack that thread with my own questions!

I’ve always taken 5 down the Disneyland but since my husband and I are leaving on a Monday and we don’t go to the parks until Tuesday I’m thinking we’ll take 101 and enjoy the drive a little more.

Few questions;

1. Any must see places to stop? Not necessarily places to eat just fun little things to see or do that won’t set us back too long.

2. Is the road windy in certain areas? I tend to feel car sick when my husband drives (lol!) so I want to be as prepared as possible.

3. Is it worth the extra hours driving?

Thank you!

San Luis Obispo, Pismo Beach and Santa Barbara are a cool little towns to experience and spend some time exploring, but as far as attractions...meh.

Pretty much two lane highway or freeway all the way down. Easy peasy.

Not really unless you have time to kill and wanna check out one of the above areas. It is certainly more engaging than the I-5 drive through nowhere, but not a lot of must see IMO.

The longer drive is just that a longer drive. It is really not that much better drive then I-5. They are both pretty boring drives, especially if you are the driver. I would rather get the Anaheim sooner and do something there then spend the extra couple hours driving.

I wouldn’t do it if you are coming all the way from Vacaville. We are further south but we take 101 to Paso Robles and take hwy 46 to cut over to I-5. It adds maybe 5 minutes to our drive but it is nicer than being on 5 the whole way. No interesting stops along that route though unless you continue on 101.
