We got back last night from another brilliant trip, this time made all the better by the amazing deal we got - £201 all in for 2 people, direct Eurostar and 5 nights at the Santa Fe and 6 days tickets for DH (I have AP from last trip)
A few small lows, will get them out the way first:
- DH had new shoes and hadn't brought any others with him, and they tore his tootsies to shreds - he was a trooper though and put on a brave face.
- Weather was a bit damp, but not bad enough to ruin anything and we did also have some lovely sunshine.
- Not really a low for us, but we met a lovely Scottish family at Ludwigs (hi if you're DISers!) who told us about an fight they'd witnessed between 2 men watching the parade, which resulted in Coke being thrown and missing the man, and landing all over the mum and daughter! They were very shocked by the whole thing.
- We loved Santa Fe (more below!) but a couple of things let the room down - very low flow in shower, and loose fittings in the bathroom which seems a shame after recent refurb. The room also had a faint but distinct smell of cigarette smoke.
- Smoking in the parks. Once you look for it, it really is everywhere. It didn't actually bother us too much though, and we turned it into a bit of a silly game where we'd ask each other "where's the nearest smoking area?" within earshot of any smokers we encountered hehe. We did see a designated smoking area being used once, but could clearly smell that they were smoking weed, not cigarettes!!!
Highs:
- Hotel Santa Fe! We loved the refurbed rooms and the theming, and the new hotel maps! Although we'd booked a standard room, we had requested a room near the parks and think we got the room closest to the parks, room 117 which is a Rio Grand room in building 14. It was a lovely dual aspect corner room too! We also got a special welcome note and bottles of water with chocolate coins, which made it super special
- Lunch at Walts was so delicious, and we had a window seat.
- Dinner at the Steak House to celebrate DH's bday was a lot of fun!
- Drinking cocktails at all the hotels around the lake - so yummy!
- Breakfasts - we're not big fans of the breakfast at Santa Fe so had planned to pay the difference to eat at some other places. We had breakfast twice at HNY and once at DLH. All 3 times we asked if we could pay the difference, and the staff said we didn't have to pay anything! I think it must be a bit of a hassle for them to do the transaction, and as we went quite late each time, they weren't worried about letting us go in for free
This was brill, and especially at the DLH, yummy! Another day we shared a breakfast at Annettes, which was actually a bit of a disappointment (not great quality, white bread only and no fresh orange juice or milk), but fun all the same.
We're now on the countdown to our WDW trip in September - wonder if we'll make it till then without a return to our magical parisian home...

We'll be staying in SF in March, so it's so wonderful to read those good reviews
