Highpoints for family with 2 DS's (3 and 6)?

Hi,

I'm new...I'm scared...I'm completely lost. This vacation sort of "fell in my lap" last week. I have to do a job for my company in the Ormond Beach area (1/2 day's work max) on June 11th, and in return I get to bring the family and spend a week at Disney.

We plan on driving and the hotel and tickets are paid for....my question is what should we do? I've never been to WDW before and neither has DW or the kids. What are the highpoints for a family with 2 young boys?

Get a guide book to Disney World. Go by the bookstore and look at the many choices for one you like. Look at the Disneyworld web site and on unofficial sites like this. Your son's would probably enjoy character meals, so you might want to make priority seatings for one or more. There are so many things to do, and all children are different. You really need to look into what's available with your kids in mind. One thing to remember Disney World is huge. You will have to drive or take busses between places on property, and sometimes take a tram between your car and the park you parked at. You should have an idea of where you are going and what you want to do each day, but don't be afraid to change your minds. You might want to consider bringing or renting a stroller or two. There is a lot of walking even for a 6 year old. Also, if your resort is on property or near you really want to take a mid-day break for a swim, nap or both. This really helps everyone re-energize and minimizes melt-downs. I know the commute seems like a pain, but it's worth it. If your sons are anything like mine, then the pool will be one of their trip's highlights.

My guide book came yesterday and I made a priority seating reservation for the Breakfastasourus. So I guess I'm doing ok so far then

Don't worry- you will have a great time! We have gone many times and our kids are now 2 and 4. If you can, try a waterpark. Typhoon Lagoon has a really fun kiddie section. Fantasmic at MGM-Studios is Great! If your youngest likes the Disney channel, make sure to see Playhouse Disney show at MGM. There is too much to list that our kids love... My advice for first timers is to take it slow and enjoy. Some of our best memories are just letting the kids play in the water fountains at Epcot.
