Tuesday 11-9-04.... Well we are leaving today. Got the packing done last night and we are ready. If you read my previous 5 days, you know DH and I crammed a lot into those days and we have no regrets. We did most everything we had planned and then some. I had an itinarary, but we really didn't stick to it very close. We did a few of the planned things but the rest kind of fell into place on its own. It is really strange how that works. I am still amazed how much can be accomplished when traveling with only two adults. There is so much less to consider, think about and plan. It is so much easier to be spontanous and spontanous can be fun. We tried some new restaurants that were not even considered before. What a fun experience. I also really enjoyed meeting fellow disers on this trip. That truly was a highlight for me. Its nice to meet others who share your obsession.

We are having breakfast at Fort Wilderness Trails End Buffet this morning. We have never been to the campgrounds before, so this was a new experience for us. Here the hurricane damage was most obvious. So many trees were still down. We arrived at 7:30 when the restaurant opened. The breakfast was good and the price was reasonable.

We drove to the airport, dropped off the rental car and checked in at our gate by 10:00am. Our flight was for 11:45. It was a basic boring return...so I will spare you any details.

I did not have the usual moody blues about leaving disney this time. I was ready to come home. I think part of that was the new promise of future vacations as a DVC member. Also we will be visiting Disneyland in April 2005. (just not the same as disney world though)

Upon arriving home, my oldest son informs me that he and three of his friends want to spend spring break on a disney vacation. He knows the perfect planner (that would be me) so it will be a piece of cake for him and his friends. This plan will be a bit different since I will be planning for college kids with a college kid budget. That will keep me busy for a few months.

We are planning on using our first DVC stay in November 2005. We are going just a little later in the month but before Thanksgiving. I really want to see the Christmas decorations for the first time. This trip, we started seeing just a few decorations going up before we left.

Thanks so much for reading my report. This is my first one, so I hope it met my fellow diser's standards. If you have any questions about anything please e-mail. I am happy to share any WDW info I can.

May you all have future Disney vacations as magical as mine was. See you on the boards.

Regards

Thanks for posting a great trip report! Congrats on becoming DVC members. I'm so jealous!

I loved your trip report. I've written reports the last two years and love going back over them ...

I now have 2 in college. We stay at Ft. Wilderness for 2 weeks and will be down there over the kids' spring breaks. My son refuses to go (he says he's too old for WDW - spoiled child, only has been there 9 times!!) but my DD will be flying down for the second week when she has break and then will drive back with us.

I haven't given up on my son, but am beginning to think that he might have inherited his stubborness from me - so think he might not change his mind!!! If he came down, their two spring breaks would overlap by a weekend and wouldn't that be nice to have all 4 of us down there at the same time. Sigh.

Again, thanks for your report and congratulations on becoming a DVC member!!

Thanks so much for sharing your vacation with us. I'm having withdrawal already and just returned from a trip with DH in October. Congratulations on becoming DVC members. We have been members since 1998 and don't regret it for a minute.

Great trip report and congrats on becoming DVC members!!

I enjoyed all of your reports. Especially as I'll be going on an all adult trip in February. Congratulations on your DVC purchase! I'm a member too at BCV and love it so much I'm already in the borrowing mode. That's okay though, I'm sure one of these years we won't be able to go for some reason and we'll catch up. And congrats to your DH for getting in the hot seat!

My husband and I went last December alone, and it was also the only time that I did not mind going home. We had a great time, but I was happy to see my kids, who had proudly braved a snowstorm in our absence!

I could absolutely relate to your feelings about the kids. Both of mine are college age also. The oldest son was always more into disney. The younger son was always reluctant to go along and drew the line two years ago. He had enough disney. OK, I will respect that adult decision.

Well as I mentioned in my report, DS1 was planning the WDW trip for spring break. One of the friends has now dropped out. Guess who volunteered to take his place. DS2! I could hardly believe it.

What this tells me is, DS2 always really liked it, but he needed to break away for the "child traveling with parents" image. He likes the fact that its now on his terms. Besides he won't have to do early entry if mom's not there.

I'll bet you, your DS will come around also. In the end family always wins out.

Sounds like the perfect trip! I really enjoyed your report. Thank you! Please keep us posted on your DVC experiences.

Lynsue,

Thanks for your great reports. They were very well written and hit all the highlights well. We're heading out in April and I hope to write my 1st trip report. Hope I can do as well as you.

My boys are 12 and 10, so we have a while to go before we can go kid-less. Just hope DH will be amenable to the idea when the time comes! Congrats, too, on the DVC purchase. Another thing I'll never be able to convince hubby of......

Thanks for sharing!

Susan

I too thought my DH would never go for the DVC. But he found the soft sell methods of disney very delightful. We had a wonderful rep named Ricardo. I actually called Ricardo about three weeks before our trip and set up a tour time. Ricardo sent us a video and other printed info. Perhaps if you ease into it and let the info lay around the house, DH might just get curious and take a peek. There is no harm in planting a seed???

I never felt any pressure during our prelimary talks nor during the tour. Never any pressure to make a decision on the spot. Even if we had no intention of purchasing, it was nice to tour the new villas at Saratoga Springs. At least you can see what others on the boards are raving about.

Have a great vacation.
