Highlighting Dark Brown Hair

Hello,

This is going to be a very dumb question, but I didn't know where I could go for the answer. I have been wanting to change up my hair for a while, and about two months ago I put highlights into my dark brown hair. I went about two shades darker and it looked great. However, I am due to get a haircut this week and plan on doing the highlights again.

My question is, would deep red highlights (simialr to the ones I get naturally) work with dark brown hair? I was thinking of getting more blond and then adding red, but I perfer to ask for an opinion here first.

I have done red highlights. Red doesn't last long, just so you know. It will fade.

You can do low, high and red highlights all at the same time, I have.

I have dark brown hair and have highlights that I love...I have sort of carmel to dark blonde highlights....heavy enough to see but not blatant...I started to notice too much new growth last week and my touch up isnt for another month....My hairdresser put a dose of toner on and it looks refreshed and should be fine for another couple of weeks....
I am planning on keep my highlights...I think the key is going to somone that really knows what they are doing or you could come out looking like a striped tiger....and yes, it did happen to me last yr...when I decided to go to someone that was cheaper...Never again...there are just some things that less wont work.

You can do low, high and red highlights all at the same time, I have.

This is what I would suggest too. Having more than one color seems to make it look more natural...especially in the summer when the sun tends to highlight everyone's hair. Just make sure you are very specific w/your stylist first so you know exactly what to expect.
