Day Eight Thursday 6th July Weather Very Hot & Sunny (Rain in evening)
Today there was no plan of sorts, so the Sloth's could have a sleep after yesterdays early start, I got up about 7am had a coffee, then took the washing which DW had separated night before to the washing machine's just at the end of our floor, I was lucky as there where 2 machines free, after loading up the machines I returned to the room, DW woke up first, closely followed by the children it was decided that we would relax this morning at the pool, then do SW in the afternoon. We had breakfast in the room, then the kids went to play in the pool both myself and DW packed some things away, DW also managed to secure a dryer for the washing, after the washings all done and sorted DW manages to get a half hour by the pool, at around 11:30 we leave the hotel to go to SW, but DS decides he wants to look in another Hip Hop store on Sandlake road this time, only about 5 mins from hotel, so we head there where he has a good look around but doesn't see anything that takes his interest thats in his size, I also have a good browse around the liquor store next door where I spot a Jack Daniels stein which I like the look of, but we don't purchase anything as we are going to SW, we head for the green line trolley stop and we are in luck as we only wait 5 mins, its decided that we'll stop off at Pointe Orlando to get POTC2 tickets for tomorrows release, the green line trolley stops right at Pointe Orlando but behind it, we find the pictures okay and ask for tickets, the clerk informs us they have a midnight screening tonight if we want DD gets very excited so its decided we will go to the midnight show total cost $28, so with tickets in hand we head for a trolley to SW but on the way I began to think its going to be a very long day with a midnight showing, I mean not as young as I used to be
, I put it to the others we postpone SW till Friday and just relax by pool in afternoon, the others agree they like the sound of that idea so we have a wander around the stores at Pointe Orlando, not that much open but DD finds a store similar to Hot Topic called Spenser's so some $$ parted with we decide to have lunch, now as luck would have it we where about 50 yards away from Hooters so we go in there for lunch much to DS's delight, I have a Cuban sandwich, DW has chicken strips, DS has a hot dog with fries, and DD has chicken burger with a side of fries, 3 soft drinks and 1 big daddy bud $45. I also offer to buy everyone a souvenir, DD gets a dress which is reduced, DS gets a pin and golf balls, DW gets me a Hooters stein for my Xmas as its Xmas themed, DS also had his picture taken with our server.
We get the trolley back up to the hotel, with a diversion to Walgreen's to get a case of water, kids play in the pool, while both me and DW catch some rays and I believe a glass of wine was indulged in, I also call SW to reserve Sharks underwater grill for Friday evening at first I'm told that I can't reserve but when I query this as I'm a pass holder the girl apologises and takes the reservation including contact info ( they called back 2 hours later to confirm our details). Round about 6:30pm the pool area was cleared due to an approaching storm and boy it was a storm , the kids played in games room for an hour, then after showers and changing we are on our way to Pointe Orlando, its been decided we would play the Hawaiian golf next to wonder works, then get a meal before pictures, by the way its still drizzling, $31 for the golf and I have to say not the best of courses compared to pirates etc, on way round golf the rain came with a vengeance, and my brand new shirt shrank in the rain, kid you not it was like the Hulk, so I finish the golf winning I might add topless, kids thought this was hilarious and I'm sure DW had a chuckle as well at my expense, I seriously needed a new top to wear and all the stores at Pointe Orlando where closed so I headed to Hooters and bought a new t-shirt from there for $18, we now needed fed and as we where there we decided Hooters, I actually had a table at the grill booked as a surprise but due to my attire I thought I'd give it a pass save the doormen throwing me out, I had the chicken nachos and the rest all order chicken salads, with 4 soft drinks, never had a beer in case I fell asleep at pictures, cost was $50, and DS had his picture taken again with our server,
we left Hooters around 11:30pm and went into pictures next door, the picture hall was all done up as a pirate ship and island all the staff where dressed as pirates as well as quite a bit of the crowd, the film hall was packed we had to pair off for seats as there where not 4 seats together, the audience participation was very entertaining, clapping, crying, laughing etc, although DW did have to nudge me awake a couple of times as I nodded off, and I have to say I wasn't too impressed overall with the picture and was very disappointed in the ending, DD was happy though, we left the pictures about 2:45am, not looking forward to the walk up I-Drive I called a cab and it was there in under 5 mins and at that time of morning only $5 incl 25% tip to hotel, we where all in bed by 3am
