Higher decks vs. lower decks

We were in 8548 almost below the goofy pool. I can only think of a few times I heard noise above and it was generally running or a woman in heels. I was in my quite a LOT and LOVE LOVE LOVED the space. It was worth every penny, the view was amazing (I loved a higher up view), all told, worth any minor, occasional annoyance from above. We also had less noise in our corridors with far fewer staterooms. I'd never want to be in anything less than a suite if we cruised again. The space was my sanctuary.

To each their own.

True, most people aren't consciously aware of the motion of the ship - unless it really starts rockin in a storm or high seas - but your body senses it (called getting your "sea legs"). if you're like most, you actually feel the motion after you get off the ship and back on solid ground.

So, is it a 'time of year' (season) thing too?

Just got back from our very first cruise (not just DCL, but first ever) - a 7-night Western (12/12 - 12/19), and I assure you: we FELT it! lol

Sometimes it was nice, like being rocked to sleep each night. Others, less so, like stumbling side to side across wide hallways (not cabin halls, but through lounges, etc). On our last night, I actually caught a rolling cart in the liquor store (pardon the redneck reference, I forget the name!) just before it smashed into a wall of bottles!

We had good weather for 6 of the 7 nights, as apparently the captain steered us around a front. However, our last night was ROUGH (apparently there had been hurricane force gusts just before we left Castaway Cay). Perhaps because of the rougher end to the trip (?), I definitely experienced a TOUGH adjustment once back on land. I hadn't noticed it in any of our ports, but after a day at home it was almost severe enough to warrant a trip to the Dr. Thankfully (blessedly!) it passed w/in 4 days or so.

You'll note though - it wasn't enough to keep us from rebooking another before we got off the ship! ;)
(here's hoping February is smoother than December was!)

I actually like deck 2 because of the elevator situation. My wife has trouble climbing stairs.

At meal times the elevators always fill up on the upper decks. You often have to wait for multiple elevators before you can get on.

On deck 2, there is almost never a wait to go up. You only have deck 1 below you (if that).

Coming down from dinner is an easy 1 or 2 flights of stairs.

One thing to be careful of is to avoid getting a room directly under the promenade lounge (if you go to bed early). They have live music there in the evenings and you can hear it in the rooms directly beneath it.

I was on the ship also - we were in pretty extreme weather that last night - did you see the 6 tornado spouts? Several people on the same cruise have posted pics and video of them. I don't know how anyone could not have felt it that night. It was bad enough they closed off deck 10.

We were on the Disney Wonder 12/13-12/17 and had a couple rocky nights. We were on Deck 2 forward, Staterm 2011, although it didn't bother me, my friend had a bout of motion sickness. If the waters are rough make sure you prop the closet doors with shoes/suitcase so they don't move, otherwise the banging of them back and forth will keep you up

In '06 DBF and I were in 6094 on Disney Wonder and didn't feel a thing. When you're close to midship Cat 5-7 you shouldn't feel too much motion.
I don't know what Deck 2 midship is like.
