High thread count sheets, which ones do you buy?

Not sure of the thread count but the Biltmore sheets are AMAZING. We request them from my mother in law for Christmas gifts. They are so silky.

I make sure to get 100% Egyptian cotton. Many many are now selling the sheets as "Cotton" and when you look on the back of the package they are a blend of polyester and cotton. My mom bought me a set of sheets for Christmas and I already had to replace them because they were sooooo pilly.

This is what I would say also. Egyptian Cotton is the only way to go. We've had our 300 & 400 TC sheets for years with no problem. Usually get them at Macy's or Bed, Bath & Beyond.

I have a set of LL Bean percale. They are wrinkley buggers and the top of the flat sheet has warped. I do not iron my sheets, so I was irritated about that not top seam washing and drying smoothly. I don't remember this being an issue when I was a kid. Pull the sheets out of the dryer, and fold them or put them right back on the bed... No issues.

I feel exactly the same way!!! Growing up, I think there was only 300 count percale sheets. You just washed them, tossed them in the dryer and put them back on the bed. NO WRINKLES!!! They stayed nice & crisp without being overly hard or scratchy. I use a comforter and just want to toss it over the bed and done. So I don't want the fitted sheet or pillow cases looking like wrinkled prunes, either from sleeping, or worse, coming out of the dryer. I'd rather sacrifice some softness for no wrinkles.

I bought some Egyptian cotton, sateen sheets that were clearanced at Amazon once. They were horrible. No wonder they were clearanced. They looked like the white drop cloths you lay on the floor when painting the house. They wrinkled like crazy, had no "sateen" sheen, and had no body to them.

The last two sheets I bought (one flat, one fitted) were the Threshold 300 Thread Count Ultra Soft Cotton sheets at Target. I recently bought a 14" thick memory foam mattress, and the fitted sheet fits it really well.

Thread count refers to the number of horizontal and vertical threads per square inch. Generally, the higher the thread count, the softer the sheet, and the more likely it will wear well — or even soften — over time. Good sheets range anywhere from 200 to 800, although you'll occasionally see numbers over 1,000.

My mom has given me some Northern Nights (QVC) sheets and they felt wonderful but all the fitted sheets ripped. I had never had that happen before!

I love percale LOW thread count sheets, and they can be hard to find. LOL. Target had some I love, 200 thread count, opal house.

I also have the Kirkland sheets from Costco. They are not as soft as my previous Donna Karen sheets, but they seem to be more durable. My DK sheets ripped easily.

I get percale and anything over 250 thred count seems to be the best for these. LLBean, Lands end and the VT country store but I get at end of season.

This is going to sound nuts, but we sleep on flannel sheets year round. I think they're cozy.

Just go to Costco. They are always going to have the best value high quality sheets.
