We done this on our 7 western last week. We were very dissapointed.
Naff rolls, hard scones and annoying service. (Andrew you were right!)
I was expecting little cucumber and egg sanys with the crusts cut off but instead I got paninis (available elsewhere on the ship) and rolls with bizzare fillings. Cakes were ok but once again you could get them elsewhere,I could have taken someone out with the scones!
This is mho, anybody enjoy?

Well I am so sorry to read of this ongoing disappointment, I wish they revert back to the old traditional menu, I haven't read of anyone so far saying they like the amendments,

We complained when we were there and as you say some fillings we couldn't work out what they were.

Yes cakes nice, and thoose scones well you could make a 'wall' with thoose bricks, I agree you could take someone out with thoose.

:surfweb: Bummer!
I wasn't overly fond of the "old" high tea!
The "new" high tea sounds awful!!!!!
:scared1: What is going on with Palo's?

It has gone downhill a lot, people have complained, I was told that 'A corporate chef' had come in and decided on the menu changes, they said they were not happy with it themselves, but told that had to do it, but encouraged complaints re the menu?

IMHO It was very nice before the sandwiches were very nice and the scones cooked very well, my DD does cook scones far better than on offer at Palo now.

well these reviews are disappointing. I was looking forward to high tea in January. I considering canceling, but it is only 5 dollars. at least my expectations will be low!!

Don't mean to be nosey but when in January are you going? We live in Plainfield! ***Sorry I just saw that you are on the western....

Kristy thats what I thought, just to be inside Palo for a look to see what it is all about is worth paying the 5 bucks, I think the fact I had low expectations and I thought it was naff is not good. But you should still try it.

I had coffe which was nice, a bit unconventional but the best bit about high tea!! I also complained, not in a bad way, just said I did not enjoy it and not what i thought high tea was.

I agree!
I liked the Tea part the best. :thumbsup2

I had heard something about a new chef and changes to the menu when we were on the EB Repo.
They tried to serve me a Margherita Pizza with Oregano and not Basil. WHAT???
I told them I had had the Margherita Pizza from Palos over a dozen times and it was ALWAYS made with FRESH Basil not DRIED Oregano. Our server said the new chef changed it but he would "special request" a Margherita Pizza made with basil for me.
Some of the old favorites were not on the menu at dinner either.

Now from cruisers complaining we got the character breakfast back with full inter action so if not happy, even if its $5pp complain.

I definately didn't like high tea when I went in 2005, I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one that didn't enjoy the way it used to be. I will not be booking this when we go in June, unless I hear of changes being made to the menu. We'll just try and book Palo brunch then.

I guess I was lucky when I tried to book the first available day and couldn't get in. Now I get get a fruity drink for the $5 you saved me.

Well thats a way of looking at it, it has gone downhill, and now isn't a good ''interruption' to the day and being by the pool, I hope its back to former glory asap.

Enjoy that drink

Never done the high tea, like brunch better. How is brunch & Palo dinner........any changes :confused3 Sailing in January :cool1:

We did the high tea on our recent cruise two weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were given all the deserts we didn't eat to take back to the room. The brownies were soooo good.
