This is great! I'm glad that they decided to do this.

BUT ...$10.00 per day to access. Am I alone in thinking that is OUTRAGEOUS!! You can stay in a cheap hotel and get FREE high speed access.

How can they justify this?

While I agree it seems quite steep given what it costs to provide the service once you get past the initial investment of pulling all of the ethernet cables, the $10/day figure seems to be a moderately common price point for a certain segment of the hotel industry. I've seen the same rate in several large (non-Disney) convention hotels that I've been in during the past year. There are certainly hotels that provide cheaper access...I was in a DC hotel last month that had free wireless Internet access to all the rooms. (That was really nice!) And when I stayed in the Wyndham Palace at Downtown Disney last year (on business), I got free access just by being a member of their "Wyndham by Request" club. But on the other hand, I've seen the $10/day amount in Marriotts, an Adams-Mark, etc., so Disney (and/or the vendor providing the service) is certainly not raising the bar here.

Yup. I've seen both fee and free access. WDW is not out of line, but it would have been nice for it to be free.

I asked this on another thread. Will both the in-room service, and the wi-fi service be considered the same for charging purposes, or will we have to pay twice if we want to use both.

IMO, I'm paying for an internet service @ $10/day. I should get both in-room, and wireless for that price.

If you look at the list of hotels getting it, it is definitely being targeted at the buisness convention set. $10 a day is a little pricey, but not out of line for buisness hotels doing so. Also of note that I read elsewhere, Disney isn't providing this, it is being provided by the subcontrator that does the phone systems in WDW now.

That's a rip. There is no reason for it to cost that much. In fact, if the cheep hotels and coffee shops can offer it for free you would think Disney could too. Add $2 to the total room charge and call it free Internet. This way the cost is spread over all guests. At least the perceived value would be greater.

I have a wireless modem that I have unlimited usage over most of the country and it cost me a quarter of that price.

Sorry Disney, you’ll have to do better than that even if your target is business customers.

Lets not charge everybody extra, just those that use the service. If you don't want to pay this price then don't use it, don't suggest others like myself help pay for it. When I'm on vacation I don't need to be on the net while I'm there.

I think $10 is reasonable. The company that supplies this service (though, wired) at the Marriotts charge $10 for noon to noon. The Swan Dolphin also charge the same price. This is an excellent feature for those of us that tend to log into our corporate networks to keep an eye on things during vacation. Of course, since I'm a Network Administrator, I'm biased and I can expense it.

$10/day isn't bad considering I paid 19.95 for WayPort service at the Radisson in Shamburg, IL last year.

For me, I would only use WDWs service 1-2 times during my stay and only if the weather was nasty.


...And one other thing, it seems some can never be satisfied.

This HS internet access topic has been of discussion for some time on the DIS. I remember members willing to 'give their left arm, leg, etc' for the service. Finally, the service (and Disney’s INVESTMENT) is available and members are concerned of the cost?!

Come on people...what more do you want?

I see it this way: The service is FINALLY available and it's only $10/day. If you don't want to pay for it, don't use it. There's more than enough to do at 'da mouse' besides internet (i.e. go to DQ and used their free internet kiosk)

Here's a thought....Has anyone considered the "Why?" of this investment?
Perhaps Disney heard our pleads and accommodated; only to be 'slapped in the face' by people griping of the cost!


The "Something for Nothing" mentality is a 'Pipe Dream' people; esp. for Disney - why... Because they can.
