High School rivalry taken too far ?

This is a video of my student section at our high school rival football game. We are getting a lot of news attention for chanting at our rivals "powder blue ******s." This may be offense to some but it has been a tradition for many many years and our princpal did not even stop this chant. The opposite side calls us "Halloween Homos" too. Now the rumor is that our school might get sued and gay rights people are very upset with us. The rival school last week was just on world news last week because of the confederate flag on their shirts.(which should not of got all the media attention) Now all student in the student section may be punished. We obviously didnt intend on hurting anyone it is just a tradition and we like to carry the tradition on further. Is it me or are people too sensitive and touchy anymore and are taking this way too far?

"Why didn't the police do anything? This is not acceptable. Shame on those students - they should know better. The school district needs to be held accountable for not dealing with this appropriately. Those who participated in the chant should take responsibility for their immaturity and hatefulness, especially with the amount of LGBT suicides that have been happening. Saying there are "too many students to punish" is a cop-out and a failure on their part."
