Have you heard any yet?

I'm DJing a wedding tomorrow, and I think I want to slip one in - maybe even 2.

I have HSM and HSM2..... I haven't listened to HSM2 at all yet. Which one(s) do you think have a chance at "working"?

There will be about 6 kids there under age 15, so I thought it might be nice to give them a little HSM.....

Hmmm. Okay this is coming from a teen here LOL..so I'm not a DJ but I think I could help maybe.

Maybe Breaking Free?
And then We're All In This Together as like a little dance song (because if the kids have seen the movie they probably know the steps) or maybe All For One for the same reason.
Uhm, I think that's it.

Hopefully I helped :)

Coming from a teen, also...

When the ceremony is complete, how about "All For One"? It's all about joining hands and stuff. Well, it's mostly about summer...hmm..."Breaking Free" would be a good one, I think, b/c you're going out on your own, becoming your own person, as is your spouse/significant other.

For the kids at the wedding, perhaps "We're All In This Together". If they're like me, they'd probably know all the steps par. ;)

"Start of Something New" seems to be appropriate for a wedding, since they are starting a new life together.

I don't know about weddings, but they did play "We're All In This Together" at my college graduation ceremony! :teeth:

As much as I love Disney, I don't think I would want adolescent high school songs at my reception.

What time is the reception? If it is an evening reception, I wouldn't think High School Musical would be classic enough. Especially with only 6 kids there.

If it is a brunch or early afternoon reception, perhaps.

Don't you go over the play list with the wedding couple? We had a band, not a DJ, but we went over the selection of songs before they were played.

I would definitely check with the bride rather than the DIS to see how they feel about kid songs at their wedding. Even though I enjoyed HSM and HSM2, I would have nixed any of the songs at our wedding.

I agree - ask the couple. We had a particular play list for our wedding, and let the DJ know what kind of music we liked (and what songs we did not want, such as Celebration and the Chicken Dance). I have 5 kids, and listen to HSM with them, but it would be strange hearing the music at a wedding reception.

Sure we do. But we certainly do NOT go over every song. We have a short must play list and a short do not play list. In fact, her only DNP is the macarena. Other than that, she has given me carte blanch to play whatever I think guest will want.... in fact, she said the she doesn't even care if guest dance to it as long as they enjoy it.

They won't mind kids songs. In fact, I am even arranging 2 games for the kids, and the bride loves the idea.

I've been to two parties recently where the DJ played HSM songs - one was a communion, and one was my mil's 60th bd party, neither was a formal wedding, but, the kids loved it (I enjoyed it as well)

Everyday might be a good one, it starts slow but then builds. I wouldn't recommend Gotta Go My Own Way.:rotfl:

We just had a big 50th Wedding Anniversary party (100+ people) for my parents, and it was a pretty formal affair. That being said, the DJ hit the major songs on my mom's playlist, but he also played a few songs for the little kids (10 under the age of 12). Hannah Montana is what I remember, and there were grandma and grandpa out there with the grandkids. I say go for it. Of course, we also did the macarena, electric slide and chicken dance so I'm probably the wrong one to answer.

Hahaha. As much as I loved that song, I have to 100% agree LOL.
Music In Me, slow version might be good too :)

I just spoke with the Bride. I was planning on leaving a message on her machine, just to say we are all good for tomorrow, but to my surprise, she picked up the phone.

She is a young bride - 24, I think - and she loves the idea of a HSM song or 2 tomorrow. One thing she said to me before was to play all the wedding favorites, but please not be "cookie cutter"...

I'm looking forward to playing some stuff that I usally can't play.

I think its cool that you are thinking of the younger guests and incorporating them in the celebration! :thumbsup2

The only one I played was Start of Something New, and I played it during dinner... The kids really seemed to like Ice, Ice, Baby! and Gasolina! :rotfl2:

Oh no! Don't tell me Ice, Ice, Baby is going to be a classic! :lmao: Of course, I'm not ready for any late '80s/early 90s to be classics....but Vanilla Ice, yikes!

Now, I was thinking Get Your Head in the Game might be a good one.....maybe that's only good for an anniversary down the road.....
