My daughter is turning 10 in a couple weeks. I just noticed that HSM2 will be aired on the 17th- so thought HEY why not a HSM2 Party.
But I need some ideas? How to turn the show watching into a party. I would like to avoid a sleepover but I think it is going to happen no matter how I try to avoid it.
So please help me turn this into a party- games? crafts? This group is a crafty perfoming kind of group. So I was thinking of putting up a stage and getting them to sing but I need something a little more creative. HELP!

Definately Kareoke and maybe glam up some totes?

My sister just told me that she's planning to host a HSM2 premier party. (Her DD4 loves HSM). Apparently, my sister got a magazine that had everything you need for a HSM2 premier party from recipes to game and decoration ideas, so my sister thought "why not?" I'll try to find out from her what magazine/issue it was -- maybe it'd give you some ideas.

ETA: I just called my sister to find out: She said it's in the special "High School Musical 2" edition of People magazine. It's a special issue, not part of the regular subscription, but it's still on newsstands (until the end of July, I believe.)

For a movie party I had for my daughter a couple of years ago, I rented a popcorn machine (it was only like $15-20) and popped popcorn and had the bags like you do in the movie theatre. I went to Walgreens where they had the $1.00 boxes of movie candy and bought an assortment and let each girl chose a candy to go with her popcorn. I set up a stand in the basement as if they were going to the refreshment stand at the theatres in the basement where our TV was. FYI- this does get a little messy and you will have to vaccuum afterwards (maybe more than once!).

We are having a HSM party for our DD turning 10 on August 4.
I bought the HSM party supplies at birthdayexpress.com

Really cute plates, cups, pinata nd HSM themed goody boxes.

Thanks for the ideas keep them coming! And I am off to find the People magazine(I am a subscriber:rolleyes1 but I don't get the "specials")

Oh I am excited to have it. Love the "candy stand" idea!

Are you having it on the 17th? If not you can get a projector and play HSM1 like a drive in. You hook the projector up to a laptop that plays the DVD - project the movie onto a wall or a sheet rigged up like a movie screen.
Have a "red carpet" as the guests enter the party and have someone taking pictures of guests as they arrive (think paparazzi).
Have a "conession stand" buffet - popcorn, nachos, hot dogs, candy etc. Not very nutrious (sp?) but yummy.
Don't forget cupcakes!!! Got a really cute receipe - make & frost cupcakes with white frosting. Cut mini marshmallows in half with scissors. Now smush them back together. Put them ontop of the frosted cupcakes to look like popcorn!!! Here's a link for the cupcakes.

I am doing the same thing for my daughter's 10th birthday - great minds think alike! We are doing a sleepover on the 17th for the big premiere!. We have a finished basement with a big, 50 inch plasma TV so they are going to set up sleeping bags down there for the movie. I found all HSM party goods at the local party store. We are ordering pizza and we will have popcorn/snacks for the movie. We have a kareoke machine and that thought didn't even occur to me -so thanks for that idea, Nanu57v! I bought goodie bags at the party store and we got HSM notepads, stickers, and temp tatoos. Then we also found some body glitter, party noise makers (I'll be regretting those!), and I thought I would throw in some candy or something. I'm not planning any crafts because I don't know if we will have time. The movie will probably be 2 hours (streched out with commercials of course), then if they sing/dance for a while it will be getting pretty late. I might do a HSM trivia game with questions I make up. We have the first movie on our TIVO, so I can really watch it closely and come up with some good questions and have prizes for the winners.

Oh, and for the invites, from the store where I rented the popcorn machine they had the cardboard small square popcorn boxes, so I cut out two sections of the four and glued them along the sides. Then I went to Archiver's and used their dye cut machine to cut out popcorn and a movie ticket on which I wrote ADMIT ONE and the movie that we saw. I attached the movie ticket to the bottom of a square white piece of cardstock and wrote the invitation information on the white cardstock. At the top I glued the popcorn on and inserted it into the popcorn box so it looked like a box of popcorn. They turned out really cute and everyone said how clever they were. If I knew how to attach a picture to this post, I would. But if you are really interested, PM me and I will e-mail you a picture of it. Good luck!!
