DD is turning 6 in 2 weeks and she is having a HSM Party. Anyone have any game and decorating ideas?

I just got a magazine from Birthday Express and it had a lot of HSM stuff (plates, centerpieces), etc. Depending on the age, I think it'd be fun to learn a dance, make pom-poms or one of those cones that you yell through, or have a quiz show or talent contest.

Oh, I like the Megaphone idea!!:cheer2:

I was thinkning of having a Lip Synch contest to the HSM songs of course!!

My daughter had one 2 weeks ago. We gave red/white megaphones and those plastic microphones and some basketball stuff as party favors. I bought the Wilton Pennant cake pan and made it red and white and wrote "Go Wildcats". She had a great time.

But DD will be 9, and I'm a b-day party nut. :)

We're going to divide the house into different "rooms".

First they are going to have science class. We will so some simple experiments. Will it float? and the getting an egg into a jar one. I'm thinking about giving groups of girls materials to do an "egg drop" experiment off the 2nd floor balcony.. but like I said.. I'm nuts, and these girls are quite a bit older than yours. :)

Then we will go to b-ball practice (we have an indoor LT hoop.. you could use anything..) and we'll see who can shoot a basket with their back to the hoop, and play a "hot potato" type game with a bball. (if the music stops when they are holding the ball they will have to do something silly.. "walk like Sharpay" for example.

Next to "detention" where we are making no-sew pillows out of HSM fleece.

At "Lava Springs" we will do a relay race with lunch trays and play food

At "Scholastic Decathalon" they will be divided into 2 teams and we will compete with HSM trivia questions

We will have cake (easy.. she just wants red with "High School Musical" written in yellow letters.. much easier then when she wanted "Steve" drawn freehand on a cake for her Blues Clues party!) We will eat off styrofoam trays and have small containers of milk like at the cafeteria.

Last is the "auditions". HSM karaoke. :)

I have HSM calendars I got on clearance, and popcorn bags from Dollar Tree that I am putting microwave popcorn, basketball containers filled with red/white M&Ms, baseball pencils, and HSM scrunchies, and HSM magnets that we are making. We're making a banner that says "Go Wildcats!" to hang by the front door, and doing all the streamers/balloons red and white. We asked the guests to dress in red/white too.

For the invite we made up a sheet that said their homeroom teacher was Mrs. Darbus, and we included their "class schedule". The thank you note will be their "report card". A lot of this was my DDs idea. We love this kinda stuff..

You can always freeze dance to HSM music.. I read somewhere about "hide the cellphone" if you can find small candy phones (I didn't have any luck..)

Have fun.. I'd love to help more if I can. :) I think oriental trading has decorate a megaphone project kit available, and cute inflatable microphones too.

I love these ideas. Where are you getting your trivia questions? Can you tell me more about the HSM magnets.

we watched the movies (again..) and I just made up some questions. I'm not sure if they'll be too hard or not, but I'd be happy to share them with you if you'd like. You can also find some here http://www.funtrivia.com/playquiz/quiz22641519ec910.html and probably some other places on the web. Just be careful you don't share them with your DD first.

At the Dollar Tree (or any craft store) you can find magnetic sheets that are sticky on one side. We were just going to print out HSM pix and cover them in clear contact paper and stick the magnets to the back. This might even be a fun activity for the girls to do at your party. You could also paint some simple wooden shapes from a craft store then glue on a pic and stick a magnet on the back. Nothing fancy. :)

Another craft we thought about was placemats. Cut 2 pieces of clear contact paper for each girl the size of a placemat. Print out lots of photos from the web of HSM, and also have scraps of colored paper, ribbon, stickers, etc. Let the girls stick whatever they want to one piece of the contact paper and when they are done stick it together with the other piece. Cool HSM placemat. If you can find calendars on clearance they might be good to cut up and use the photos. On the trading board someone might even have last years you can have. popcorn::

I was thinking of doing a frame. I work at a school and we have a diecut machine. I put in Foam sheets and out come die cut frames. Then the girls can decorate with Star Foam shapes and the boys can do Basketballs.

We did a HSM party and one of the 'events' that went over well... The girls came dressed as a cheerleader, Sharpay or whatever,,,, we made a video of them doing one of the songs.... we chose a song, practiced a few simple moves and improvised... we then made a music video. My husband made copies of the DVD for all the attendees to take home with them. That was 8 months ago and we are still gettting raves about the "Music Video"... the girls loved it and the parents liked it because they could see how much fun the girls had.

These videos will only grow more special... we have a DS16 that we had made videos (scenes from anything and everything w/his best friends) now these Juniors in High School love to have their videos shown.....

I think karaeoke would be so fun for a party with this theme. Do you know anyone with a machine or could you rent one??? You could let them all make cd's and then take them home as a favor. You could even do a fun cd cover...a photo of your daughter or HSM photo...or even have them make one at the the party. Then they could have a cd of their own music!

That would be so much fun! Kids love to sing in front of each other!

I love the originality!!! DDs 7th bday is the end of March and of course she wants a HSM2 party. I may "steal" a couple of your ideas! We had a Kim Possible party last year and did a lot of the same things - went way over the top! I think the parents who stayed enjoyed it just as much as the kids! But DH and I were exhausted afterward!

You are so right... kids love to act silly and sing. Our video was so much fun and very simple. The girls decorated their own music video DVD cover. DS16 helped put their faces (on the computer) in HSM pics. They loved it.
