High risk pregnancy

Hi - My family and I are going to Disney next week and I have recently had a scare with my pregnancy. Everything was fine but I was put on pelvic rest and told to take it easy. I'm strongly considering renting a scooter or a wheelchair for the trip just to be super careful, am I being crazy?

I would ask the doctor what exactly the restrictions are for pelvic rest and what the doctor means by taking it easy.

The things I know of included in pelvic rest would not include things like walking, standing or sitting. Those might be some things the doctor might include in taking it easy, or there might be other things like shorter days.

I was also put on pelvic rest (then modified bedrest) during my pregnancy and was told to pretty much lay in bed as much as possible. I would not even think about Disney, even with a wheelchair. That being said, I would ask your OB exactly what that means.

I think only your doctor can explain precisely what s/he means by "pelvic rest and take it easy." I'm kind of surprised s/he didn't spell that out for your clearly when you were seen. When I was put on rest, I was told exactly what I was allowed to do and for how long, how frequently I had to rest or lie down and again for how long. Unless you are local to WDW, the last place you really want to be with complications is away from home and your own doctor. I honestly wouldn't travel. It's disappointing, but call WDW and see if they will work with you to reschedule so you don't have to outright cancel. Of course, each doctor's interpretation of "rest" can be different, so please discuss your trip with your own medical provider.

Good luck to you and your little one!

I would ask your doctor because I would be very hesitant to travel at all and certainly not spend time touring theme parks.

This! My pregnancies were far more important than the thought of missing a vacation. I was high risk, with complications, for my last one -

You will more than likely have plenty of traveling times ahead after your baby is born. Definitely discuss this very clearly with your doctor.

When my friend was put on pelvic rest for her pregnancy, it meant pretty much staying in bed as much as physically possible. She wasn't allowed to work or travel at all. Disney would have been 100% a no go even with an ECV or wheelchair as that would have still been too much.

You don't mention how you are getting to Disney, are you driving or flying? Very bad idea to get on a plane with a high risk pregnancy. Even with a wc or ecv, a trip to Disney is not "taking it easy." definitely talk to your on, you might need to reconsider taking the trip

Please ask your doctor. I would hate to take that kind of a risk for a vacation. Wdw will be there after the baby.

You dont say how far along you are. Please ask your doctor, this isnt a joke and a trip can wait!!! Trust me when I say you don't want your baby to come before 36 weeks. Each week less then 36 have a greater chance of the baby having lifelong disabilities. You will never want to be in a position where your child is so disable you have to make end of life choices before they even graduate high school. I will add that I did bedrest for our second child, 20 very long weeks but I did it because I didn't get the option with our first and he came entirely too early.

Talk to your doc. But I was on pelvic rest that allowed work and light walking just to move around stores, home, etc. I didn't have to stay in bed as much as possible. But Disney would've been a no.
