My mom says I'm high maintenance just because I like using "nice" stuff that she would never buy. The story goes back a while to when her friend Shirley bought a Coach handbag and decided she didn't like it afterall and gave it to me. Shirley's belief is that every young girl needs a good handbag and nice makeup and jewlery. Well, I loved the handbag (it's blue plaid and authentic Coach) so she got me a really good imitation for Easter. Now I've got two and I use them a lot when I go on trips and want something to put my stuff in while I'm out of the hotel (except in WDW- I've got a Disney bag for there!). Well, she got a hold of my report card and decided that my mother was at fault for not getting me a gift. My mom thinks that only straight A report cards deserve rewards and I had three A's and two C's, so nothing for me. Shirley gave my mom a gift for me the next day. A huge bottle of Victoria's Secret perfume and a body glitter brush from there as well. I use them all often, but I don't think that qualifies me to be high maintenance.

What do you think? Am I or am I not? You can be completely honest, too.

I really don't think you are, but parents are like that. My mom thinks the same thing but I guess their not used to all these new brands and stuff. I'm not into brands, I buy what I like and thats it. Good luck though! ;)

In all honesty, I think your on the fence. But, this is coming from an extremely low maintenance type of girl so a lot, to me, is a sign of a high maintenance person; a lot of what I consider other people don't.

i don't think so.
my mom is the same way.
i asked for some exfoliator and scented bath oils and she said if she doesn't need it, then neither do i.
i'm low maintenance in my mind. i mean, i only ever really use eyeliner and foundation, and i paint my nails every once in a while. that's the extent of my girliness.
but no, i don't think you are.

i'm incredibly low maintenance. henceforth, my opinion is bias and invalid.

I don't see myself as high maintenance. I wear t-shirts and jeans. I never spend more than $20 on a shirt and I've only ever spent that much at concerts and at WDW. I usually on spend $5 or $10. I wear eyeliner and eye shadow usually. The glitter is for special occasions, like WDW or X-mas and so on.

well, if you don't think you are, thats all that matters. :confused3

No. Thats not high maintenance! My parents don't call anyone that. (although they do call me spoiled?hmmm)

I don't think that High Maintenence is the question here. I think what you are asking is "Am I too spoiled?" And I feel like you are either having a little guilt about having these gifts bought for you, or you want to show that you appreciate them, and don't know how. Remember, a "Thank You" goes a long way. And even though Shirley buys you nice things, remember that your mom will always be there for you, no matter what. Love goes a whole lot further than money.

THAT said...semi-indulgence is ok! Just don't make it a bad habit, that's all! Always be appreciative. Enjoy!

I don't really understand.... how having more than one handbag makes you high maintenance...............................at all.

I wouldnt care if someone called me high matienence... id be to happy about the bag!!!

Very well said Ash. :goodvibes

I don't think you're high maintenance.
high maintenance is when you have to go get your hair done every week and go tanning and get your nails done and have facials all the time and all that jazz.
high maintenance isn't really having gifts given to you.

It's more having to have what you want and NOW rather than people giving you gifts (which is more spoiled I guess)
I'm not saying your spoiled at all though.

You're just lucky to have a nice friend like Shirley I suppose :cutie:

I'm high maintenance emotionally.
And as far as food goes.
And maybe my views on clothes aren't quite what they should be for my budget.

Well I guess I am high-maintenance. I have designer, go on shopping trips every saturday with my friends including internet shopping periodically during the week, go tanning (but I have to for cheer), and get my nails done every so often. I know this will upset some people but I just live this way + I pay for a majority of it. I don't get an allowance though but I have my own business. I have never been called high-maintenance. I am sorry if this makes people mad.

Just because you got a couple of nice gifts from a friend, doesn't mean that you're high-maintenance. Spending an hour in the shower and dramatically altering your order at a restaurant- now that's high-maintenance.

a) that shouldn't make people upset? it's your life! :goodvibes

&

b) you don't really sound high maintenance either. you pay for all your stuff, and it's not like you are demanding trips to the salon because you chipped a nail. :thumbsup2
